Publishing and Previewing Content

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to publish and preview Multi-Language content.

Import and Publish

Use the following steps to import and publish files:

  1. Go to the Admin Center, console.walkme.com.
  2. On the left, click Multi-LanguageImport.
  3. Drag and Drop your file(s) or click to upload.
  4. After uploading the file, select the appropriate language and select the Import button for a single file or the Import All button for multiple files.
  5. To publish the translations, you will need to publish every single WalkMe item from the Editor for which translations were imported to the appropriate environment(s).

Note

A Settings Publish alonoe is NOT sufficient; each piece of WalkMe content with a translation will need to be published to the environment where you expect the translations to appear.

Activities

In the Admin Center, below Import, there is a tab labelled Activities.

Activities is similar to the Activity Log in the Editor. Here you can view Activities that have taken place related to Text & Multi-Language.

You can click on an activity for details related to the imported or exported file. See the following resource to understand how to read the Translation details.

Image shows the location of Activities in the side menu.

The above image shows location of Activities in the side menu. Click the image to enlarge, then click the close icon to return.

Additional Resource

An additional resource for Multi-Language validations is the official WalkMe document reviewing different file validation issues and how to fix them.

Summary

After publishing, depending on the implementation method you chose, your users will have the option to select a language via the Toggle in the top right of the Player Menu, or WalkMe will automatically change the language of your content based on the language variable in your website’s JavaScript.

Using the information provided in this unit, you can now successfully implement Multi-Language and provide your users with the ability to interact with WalkMe in the language of their choice.

Previewing your Content

After publishing each piece of translated content, you will want to preview your solutions to make sure they are displaying correctly to your users.

As discussed in the Best Practices lesson, you may find that balloon text is longer and cut off, in which case you may need to adjust the position of your WalkMe elements.

How to Preview Your Multi-Language Content

  1. After selecting the pieces of content you want to preview, click the up arrow to the right of the Preview icon at the bottom of the Editor. Image shows how to preview your multi-language content.
  2. Select Multi-Language Preview. Image highlights the multi-language preview option from the list.
  3. Select All Languages from the drop-down. Image highlights All Languages option from the list.
  4. Click Preview.
  5. Once the preview has started, open the Player Menu and select your desired language from the drop-down in the top right.

A below video demonstrates step mentioned above. Watch it to know more. Note that the video doesn't support audio.

Step 4: Additional Info

If using Google Chrome, you may be unable to download the files due to security protections in the browser.
