Content and Material of Week 2

Dear course participants,

This week is the second week of our course: Be Visual! Sketching Basics for IT Business.

First, Jörg and Johanna will familiarize you with the topic for the week, which covers processes, flow charts, and screen sketches. Jörg will guide you through a set of important shapes and will provide you with tips and tricks for technical sketches. Then we’ll practice the combination of text and containers. Jörg and Johanna will talk about the development of apps in multidisciplinary teams. To approach the topic of screen sketches, Johanna will talk about screen design basics. Then we’ll start practicing wireframes and learn some useful techniques for producing low-fidelity prototypes that can be tested with users. The last exercise will be about designing your own app.

This week’s exercises will take place on a flipchart/whiteboard, and for the screen sketches, you can work at your desk.

Materials for this week:

Approx. 3-5 sheets of flipchart paper
1 round tip/bullet board marker
1 chisel tip board marker
Sheets of blank A4/letter size paper
2 Fine pens (Sharpie Fine Point Permanent Marker, edding 1200 or Stabilo Pen 68)
Black pen for sketching and writing
Lighter colored pen for shadows, highlighting, and delineating (screen sketches)
