Leveraging SAP Integrated Product Development for Development Collaboration

Working with BOMs (structured data) Within a Collaboration

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to use Bill of Material (BOM) redlining to propose modifications and understand their impact on component status in SAP Integrated Product Development.

Creation of a BOM Redlining

To create a BOM redlining, perform the following steps: As a participant, you can use redlining to propose and track modifications to a BOM added in a collaboration. Redlining involves deleting or adding components, changing quantities, or editing other attributes. The redlining will create a new version of the BOM in the collaboration.

Steps

  1. From the list of shared product data, choose the required BOM.

  2. In the BOM details view, in the header area, choose Create Redlining.

    The BOM redlining view displays.

    Choose Continue Redlining.

Summary

Let's Summarize What You've Learned:

  • BOM redlining in SAP Integrated Product Development facilitates proposing and tracking modifications to a Bill of Material within a collaborative environment.

  • Creating a redlining involves selecting the target BOM and initiating the "Create Redlining" action from the BOM details view.

  • User actions like adding, editing, or deleting components within a redlining dynamically update the component's status to "Created," "Edited," or "Deleted" respectively.

  • Component status changes are tracked, with specific rules governing how an initial status interacts with subsequent user actions, such as a deleted component becoming uneditable.

  • Access to redlining actions, including creating, editing, deleting, viewing, and downloading, is controlled by assigned user roles (Administrator, Contributor, Reader) within the collaboration.
