Technical Prerequisites
Before configuring the system, ensure that all administrative and commercial prerequisites are met.
- Verify Your S-User ID: Confirm you have a valid S-User ID linked to the customer account associated with the SAP Business Data Cloud order.

Importance: The system uses your S-User ID to verify entitlements. If the ID is not correctly linked, provisioning options will not appear in the SAP for Me portal. - Confirm Required Authorizations: Ensure your S-User ID has the "Edit Cloud Data" authorization. This role is necessary to trigger and manage cloud system provisioning in SAP for Me.
- Check Your Contract Status: Verify that your SAP Business Data Cloud contract has officially started. Capacity units are only available for allocation after the contract start date.
- Validate BDC Entitlements: Log in to SAP for Me to confirm that SAP Business Data Cloud entitlements are correctly assigned to your customer number.
Security, Governance, and Integration
Security and governance are integral components of a well-managed cloud environment.
- Designate System Owners: Assign a "System Owner" for each BDC component (such as BDC Core or SAP Datasphere). This individual serves as the primary contact for provisioning and system notifications.
- Plan User Access: Define user roles and access management strategies for the BDC Cockpit, SAP Datasphere, and SAP Analytics Cloud. Determine who requires viewer access and who is authorized to create models.
