Handling the Sales Process in SAP Business One, Web Client

Leveraging Your Sales Insights with the Sales Analysis Report

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to run the Sales Analysis Report, apply filters, and use drilldown tools to explore sales data effectively.

Sales Analysis

The Sales Analysis report in the SAP Business One, Web client goes beyond basic period reporting through enhanced analytical features.

It includes hierarchical report table and a complementary Breakdown table.

  • The hierarchical table allows users to group, aggregate, and summarize sales data across multiple levels to reveal combined and segmented business insights.
  • The Breakdown table enables deeper analysis by drilling down into aggregated figures and directly accessing underlying source documents and transactions

The Web client offers multiple predefined views for sales analysis reports. These predefined views are examples that demonstrate how the Sales Analysis Report might be used. Unlimited views can be created and saved according to business need. These views store distinct settings and parameters for the filter bar in the header area, the hierarchical report table, and the Breakdown table.

  • Dimension fields contain qualitative values. They are used to slice and dice data, offering views from different perspectives. Dimension fields typically include descriptive data such as names, dates, or geographical locations. Examples include the Customer Code and the Posting Date.
  • Measure fields contain quantitative values. They are numerical values that can be summed, counted, or otherwise mathematically manipulated across records in the filtered dataset. Examples of measure fields include Gross Profit and Document Total. They provide insights into overall sales performance over time or other categories.

For Adele, the sales manager at OEC Computers, the sales analysis report supports data driven decisions by clearly highlighting sales performance trends, product profitability, and customer behavior. Additional enhancements such as more flexible filtering conditions and a wider range of visible fields further support detailed and informed sales analysis.

Adele can use one of the predefined sales analysis views, for example, the Quarterly Invoiced Sales by Customer and Item view, customize its filters and dimension, save it as tile and share it with the sales team.

How to Customize the Sales Analysis View and Run the Sales Analysis Report

Once creating a personalized sales analysis view, you can further change its filters and dimensions. Then, expand the rows in the hierarchical table, choose aggregated data, and drill down to its details in the breakdown table.
