Sales performance management, or SPM, solutions help sales teams and leaders track sales operations against goals and quotas.
Sales performance management is a suite of operational and analytical functions that automate and unite back-office operational sales processes and are implemented to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness. SPM core capabilities include incentive compensation management (ICM), territory management (TM) and quota management. While the ability to plan for incentives, quotas, and territories has always been important, the introduction of automation with AI insights has made sales planning and quota distribution more efficient. Additional capabilities may include objectives management, advanced analytics, natural language processing and exploration, gamification and mobile apps.

Each year, more organizations discover the importance of using a unified SPM solution. An independent study by CMI Research estimated that the global market for SPM solutions exceeded 1 billion euros in cloud revenue in 2024 and is expected to exceed 1.6 billion euros by 2028.
Advanced analytics and AI will be the next growth areas in SPM. A Gartner study estimates that by 2026, 25% of organizations using SPM will optimize the design and maintenance of their sales compensation plans using advanced analytics and AI.
