The Perform and Monitor Phase
The Perform and Monitor phase in SAP Process Control is crucial for ensuring that control activities are executed and that compliance with policies, regulations, and standards is maintained. This phase includes both the performance of control activities and the monitoring of these activities to detect and rectify any issues promptly.
Key components of this phase involve manual and automated control execution.
Manual and Automated Control
Before we continue lets understand the difference between automated and manual control:
- Automated controls also known as Continuous Control Monitoring (CCM): Automated Controls in SAP Process Control monitor business processes in real-time against predefined rules, automatically detecting anomalies, generating automatically alerts, and managing exceptions without manual intervention. This capability ensures compliance and operational efficiency in complex IT environments by reducing manual tasks and integrating workflows that streamline control testing and issue resolution which will be explained in more detail in the Lesson "Exploring automated control performance and monitoring".
- Manual Control: Designated individuals or teams are responsible for executing manual controls as per predefined procedures, which may include tasks such as reviewing documents, authorizing transactions, or conducting physical inspections. SAP Process Control provides a centralized repository for creating and maintaining manual test plans linked directly to control definitions, ensuring consistent and effective manual control performance which will explained in the Lesson "Exploring the Manual Control Performance".
Let's continue to gain a deeper understanding of manual and automated control.
