In this lesson, you add a table to see your sales organization split by business partner’s average spending over time.

After completing the lesson, your story (in edit mode) should look similar to:

Add Table

  1. [Optional] Open your story in edit mode if not already.

  2. Select the ‘+’ Create a Table placeholder in the Main Lane of the template.

  3. Notice the Right Side Panel (Builder, Styling) automatically opens.

Add the row dimensions.

  1. In the Builder tab under Rows, select ‘+’ Add Dimension.

  2. Select SALESORG and then PARTNERID dimension.

  3. Click outside the Dimension Dropdown to close it.

Add your column dimensions.

  1. Under Columns, select ‘+’ Add Dimension.

  2. Select OrderCreationDate.

    Note

The hierarchy icon indicates there is a hierarchy available for order date.

  3. Click outside the Dimension Dropdown to close it.

View the hierarchies available for order date.

  1. Select the More (…) options for OrderCreationDate, then select Hierarchy, and see all available hierarchies in the Hierarchy dropdown.

  2. Select Cancel.

Don’t make changes and keep the Year, Quarter, Month, Day hierarchy.

Change the measure column.

  1. Select Manage Filters for Measures.

  2. Deselect Avg Price and select Avg Spend per Business Partner instead, then select OK.

You now have a table that shows Sales Organizations split by Business Partners average spending over time.

Close the Right Side Panel.

  1. Deselect the Right Side Panel (Builder, Styling) from the View menu in the Top Toolbar, to close the panel.

View the order date hierarchy.

  1. Expand the (all) node of the OrderCreationDate hierarchy to view all years.

You can see all the order date years in the expanded table.

Now let’s hide the (all) node, as you are not interested to see Avg Spend summed for all years.

  1. Right click on the (all) node, and select Hide column.

  2. [Optional] Expand OrderCreationDate to view the next hierarchy levels, Year, Quarter, Month, Day.

Change the title for the table.

  1. Double click on the Sales_Analytic_Model title and change it to Average Spend per Business Partner.

Do a quality check and save your story.

  1. Quality Check: Does your Table look like this?

  2. Save your story.

Summary

Congratulations! You have added a Table, and explored the sales order hierarchy.
