Chemical Product Compliance Process

Chemical Product Compliance in the Value Chain: Overview

Chemical product compliance in the value chain encompasses comprehensive regulatory adherence across all stages of chemical product lifecycle, from raw material sourcing through end-user disposal.

The process manages compliance marketability checks in sales order processes and during outbound delivery, ensuring any material included in a sales order or sales quotation that is defined as relevant for compliance is verified for selling authorization into specific countries/regions and for particular customers.

This integrated approach supports companies in ensuring product marketability and brand protection while reducing compliance costs through embedded compliance checks that prevent products from being sold into restricted or unassessed markets.

How to ensure Chemical Product Compliance

Introduction: Chemical Compliance in the Value Chain

Many products produced by the company are subject to dangerous goods regulations. As a result, when a sales order is created in the system, it can happen that direct production or delivery is not possible. All regulations must first be observed before a production or delivery occurs.

Task 1: Create Product Master

As a prerequisite, Master Data Specialist Jasmine creates three products for semi-finished goods and as well three products for finished goods.

The following video only shows the creation of one product master.

To run through this process, the materials must be available in stock. Warehouse Clerk, Jim creates necessary stock by posting goods receipts.

Task 2 : Manage Compliance Data

The compliance check takes place at the lowest level, the chemical level of the unpackaged product.

Later, three unpackaged products will be created and linked with the previously generated finished products. Furthermore, new compliance purposes are required for the unpackaged products. These will now be set up by Product Stewardship Specialist Otto.

The following video shows the creation of one compliance purpose.

Task 3: Create unpackaged Products

Ensuring product compliance is the main objective of this scenario. As most regulations or legal obligations relate to the chemical level of the product, the focus of product compliance is on the unpackaged product.

Within the unpackaged product, links are then established to the product master or to product compliance data. In this scenario, three unpackaged products are required. These will now be set up by Product Stewardship Specialist Otto.

The following video shows how to create one unpackaged product.

Task 4: Create the first Sales Order with a negative assessed marketability

The first scenario shows how Internal Sales Representative Kate creates a sales order for a product with a negative assessed marketability.

Otto, Product Stewardship Specialist for Product Compliance, rejects the compliance request. The sales order is blocked.

Task 5: Create the second Sales Order with a positive assessed marketability

The second scenario shows how Internal Sales Representative Kate creates a sales order for a product with a positive assessed marketability.

First the sales order is blocked. Then she asks for a positive assessed marketability.

Therefore Product Compliance Specialist Otto starts with a classification of the unpackaged product as no-dangerous goods.

Then the marketability status of the unpackaged product is set to compliant and finally the assessment status for production and sales is set to allowed.

Task 6: Create a third Sales Order with customer compliance checks

The third scenario shows how Internal Sales Representative Kate creates a sales order for a product with negative feedback.

At the end the Marketability Status is set to "Customer Assessment Required".
