Managing Investigation Configuration

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to configure investigation settings to categorize activities, evidence, and root causes within the system

Configuration for Investigations

To configure investigations in SAP Environment, Health, and Safety Management, you define the following settings:

  • Investigation Types: Categorize investigations by the matter involved, legal guidelines, or responsible functional area. This is a mandatory field required to save an investigation record.
  • Investigation Activity Types: Define specific types of activities to structure and manage the individual tasks within the investigation workflow.
  • Evidence Types: Categorize information collected during an investigation, such as physical evidence, documentary evidence, and witness statements.
  • Root Cause Categories: Classify the underlying causes identified during analysis. These can be organized into logical groups and multi-level hierarchies to meet specific organizational standards.

Specify Investigation Types

You can categorize investigations by factors such as the subject matter, applicable guidelines, responsible functional area, or whether the investigation is internal or external. To do this, you must define an investigation type. An investigation type is mandatory; a record cannot be saved without one.

The following example demonstrates how to add a new type, such as Authority Investigation.

Specify Root Cause Categories

You can define root cause categories to classify root causes that are identified during an investigation. You can also organize related root cause categories into logical groups and create a multilevel hierarchy to meet industry or organization-specific standards.
