Tracking the Financial Impact of Incidents

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to implement financial tracking integration to monitor the costs associated with incidents

Financial Tracking Overview

Tracking the costs associated with EHS work or safety incidents is a critical part of managing organizational risk, compliance, and performance. This enables your organization to understand the immediate and long-term financial impact of an incident on stakeholders.

You can achieve this by tracking related expenses and income, such as direct costs, reimbursements, fines, benefits, and production losses, within the Financial Tracking tab.

You can include financial data from the following cost collectors of integrated SAP components on the Financial Tracking tab:

  • Maintenance orders: Integration with Plant Maintenance (PM).
  • Internal orders: Integration with Accounting (AC).
  • Manual entries: Manually created cost collectors.

The only prerequisite for tracking the financial impact of incidents is that exchange rates are maintained in the Currencies activity within your configuration environment.

Summary

  • Financial tracking enables organizations to monitor incident costs—such as repairs, fines, and losses—by integrating data from Plant Maintenance, Accounting, or manual entries.
  • The only technical prerequisite is maintaining active exchange rates within the system’s currency configuration.
