Navigating the Stages of the Integration between ESM, S/4HANA and SuccessFactors

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to navigate the stages of the integration between ESM, S/4HANA and SuccessFactors.

Integration Requirements

Configuring an integration between ESM and S/4HANA or SuccessFactors requires a set of preparations and walking through a set order of stages.

Prior to configuring the systems ensure you have the following items in place:

Integration Requirements: SAP Enterprise Service Management, SAP Integration Suite, or SAP SuccessFactors/S/4HANA Cloud.

  • Access to Enterprise Service Management (ESM)

  • Access to the Integration Suite

  • Access to SAP S/4HANA Cloud or Success Factors

Integration Stages

Integration Stages flowchart. Communication System leads to Communication Configuration. Configuring S/4HANA leads to Deploy iFlow. Communication Configuration also leads to Deploy iFlow.

Create Communication System

A communication system encompasses all the necessary details about the external system you intend to connect with, or it gathers the required information for external systems linking to your own system. This system ensures the proper host name is targeted and establishes the authentication protocol.

When integrations occur, source systems interact with destination systems through communication systems.

Systems designed for outbound communication enable interaction with external platforms to transmit data, whereas inbound communication systems facilitate external platforms in connecting to the SAP ESM to obtain data.

Configuring Communication Configuration

After creating the communication system, it is required to define what specific actions the integration needs to execute. An action could be a request payment advice or post payment advice. This can be accomplished through communication configuration.

Deploy iFlow in Integration Suite

To ensure proper dataflow between ESM and external systems, utilize the standard ESM iFlow on the integration suite. After updating the user credentials for the user on the iFlow, deploy it.

Configuring S/4HANA

When integrating with S/4HANA use the iFlow "SAP Enterprise Service Management Integration with SAP S/4HANA Cloud". When integrating with SuccessFactors use the iFlow "SAP Cloud for Customer Integration with SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central".

Lesson Summary

In this lesson you navigated the different stages that need to be set up to ensure a data exchange between ESM and S/4HANA or SuccessFactors. It requires a communication system that hosts the users that send or receive data, a communication configuration that specifies what specific actions should be taken and the predefined iFlow in the integration suite.
