With the development of SAP S/4HANA Cloud Warehouse Management, several major improvements were made in the core solution over time to enable more flexible, configurable business processes.
Lean Customer Returns Process for Packaging Materials and Free-of-Charge Items
With the release 2602, you can return packaging material and the free-of-charge items that have come with the ordered product in the lean customer returns process. This means that no stock inspections will be done for the returned products.
To return the packaging material or the free-of-charge items, you can create a lean returns order in Sales, which triggers the creation of a returns delivery in Delivery Management. The returns delivery is received as an inbound delivery in Warehouse Management and the returned items are put away without inspection.
Automatic Packing in Direct Goods Receipt Posting from Production
With this feature, available since release 2508.3, when posting goods receipt of products arriving from production using direct goods movement, you can specify that the system automatically packs any unpacked products during confirmation of a manufacturing order.
You have to select the corresponding checkbox in the configuration of the production scheduling profile.
Additionally, you have to maintain a packing instruction of the unified package building and configure the determination of packing instructions accordingly.
After creating and releasing a manufacturing order and the confirmation of the order, goods movements are triggered accordingly, and the goods are packed automatically. In the Reprocess Goods Movements app, you can correct any error that occurred and trigger the posting of the goods movements a second time. The automatic packing is still working. The system created handling units in Warehouse Management based on the packing instruction.
New Filter Options in Manage Outbound Delivery Orders
This feature, available since release 2508.3, enhances the Manage Outbound Delivery Orders app with additional filters:
- Manufacturing Order
- Shipping Condition
- Staging Bay
Use these filters to specify search criteria more precisely, enabling better management and tracking of outbound deliveries.
Depreciation of Handling Unit Object Type for Output Management
With the release 2602, the object type WM Handling Unit is not available anymore in the Output Parameter Determination app. To define output rules for HU labels, you can use the object type Handling Unit, which belongs to Handling Unit Management instead. This object type encompasses all the features of the WM Handling Unit, as well as additional features.
