Working with Sorting

Introducing Air Sorting Options in new Concur Travel

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to manage Air Sorting Options on the Travel Configuration Page for new Concur Travel

Introduction to Air Sort Options

Air sort options enhance the travel booking experience by letting users prioritize cost, convenience, or policy compliance. They save time, personalize results, and enable users and administrators to align bookings with individual and organizational needs.

Let’s look at some of the different air sort options.

Shop by Fares Default

This setting allows administrators to choose the default sorting criteria for flights returned when a user searches by price. Review the following graphic and corresponding information to learn more about each option in the dropdown menu.

Sorting settings screen with Shop by Fares Default dropdown open and highlighted by a yellow border. Menu options include Preference Rank, Lowest Price, Earliest Departure, Earliest Arrival, Duration, Company Policy, Fewest Stops, Emissions, and Custom. Fewest Stops is highlighted in blue as the current selection

Review the following information to learn more about each default option.

Preference Rank
Displays flights based on user-defined preferences (Most Preferred, Preferred, Less Preferred, Non-Preferred).
Lowest Price
Orders flights by price, with the lowest prices displayed first.
Departure/ Earliest Arrival
Sorts flights by the earliest departure or arrival times.
Duration
Orders flights by travel duration, including layovers, with the shortest durations displayed first.
Policy
Prioritizes results based on policy compliance first, followed by preference ranking and price. The following colors represent the level of compliance:
  • Green: In policy
  • Yellow: Log for reports / Notify manager
  • Red: Passive approval / Active approval
Fewest Stops
Prioritizes flights with the fewest stops, followed by price.
Emissions
Orders flights by carbon emissions, with the lowest emissions first.
Custom
Allows for the definition of custom sorting criteria based on administrator preference, by combining up to 3 sorting options.

Custom Sort Options

The custom sort feature enables administrators to create and customize the default sort order for search results. Users can still select different sorting options from the Sorted By dropdown, but the custom sort will be the initial display order if set as the default.

Setting up the custom sort option includes three simple steps:

  1. Select Custom as the default sorting option.
  2. Clear the Use Default checkbox and enter a name for the custom sort option (optional).
  3. Define the sorting order using the Primary Sort, Secondary Sort, and Tertiary Sort fields to define the sort order.

Note

The secondary and tertiary sorts are optional. You can select None from the dropdown menus if not applicable.

Shop by Schedule and Flex Faring Default

As part of the transition to the new booking experience, the travel configuration setting Shop by Schedule and Flex Faring, is being decommissioned.

With the introduction of the new air display in new Concur Travel, the booking interface now features a single, unified view. This change eliminates the need for multiple sorting configurations. Consequently, the system will now exclusively use the Search by Price sort settings to ensure a consistent and streamlined experience for all users.

Summary

  • Configure default air sorting to align with cost, convenience, and policy goals
  • Shop by Fares options include preference, lowest price, earliest times, duration, policy, fewest stops, emissions, or custom
