Managing Booking Sources and GDS PNR Creation in new Concur Travel

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to apply the appropriate booking source, GDS PNR creation and passive segment settings on the Travel Configuration page in new Concur Travel.

Introducing Booking Sources and GDS PNR Creation on the Travel Configuration page

In new Concur Travel, a set of configuration settings gives Travel Management Companies control over how bookings are recorded, processed, and reflected in the Global Distribution System (GDS), covering PNR creation and multi-source content management to ensure accurate records and comprehensive travel oversight.

The following section outlines key settings that shape GDS booking behavior in new Concur Travel:

  • Enable multiple booking sources
  • Creating a GDS PNR for every trip booked online through Concur
  • Writing passive segments for non-GDS content when no vendor default is specified
  • Defaults for specific non-GDS vendors

Enable multiple booking sources

To access the Enable multiple booking sources capability setting on the Travel Configuration page, use CTRL + F to search for the setting as depicted in the following graphic.

In new Concur Travel, enable this setting to allow ClearTrip + GDS content in the same booking when one-way faring is enabled.

Note

As new Concur Travel continues to evolve, future development for this setting is planned to support combining EDIFACT and NDC, as well as GDS and Travelfusion content. Be sure to review the SAP Concur Travel monthly release notes for new and updated features.

GDS PNR Options

To access the GDS PNR Options section on the travel configuration page, use CTRL+ F to search for the setting as depicted in the following graphic.

In the GDS PNR Options section in new Concur Travel, you can configure the settings below.

Creating a GDS PNR for every trip booked online through Concur

  • When enabled, Concur Travel creates a GDS PNR for every trip booked online, including unfinished trips, for reporting purposes.
  • When disabled, Concur Travel creates a GDS PNR only when the user completes a booking containing an active or passive segment.

Writing passive segments for non-GDS content when no vendor default is specified

  • When enabled, Concur Travel writes passive segments for non-GDS content unless a vendor-specific option has been selected in the Defaults For Specific Non-GDS Vendors dropdown.
  • When disabled, Concur Travel does not write passive segments for non-GDS content unless a vendor-specific option has been selected in the Defaults For Specific Non-GDS Vendors dropdown.

Defaults For Specific Non-GDS Vendors

To configure defaults for specific vendors, select the vendor from the Defaults For Specific Non-GDS Vendors section and choose one of the following options.

  • Use the default specified above

    Note

This option references the Writing passive segments for non-GDS content when no vendor default is specified setting to determine whether passive segments should be written to the PNR when no vendor-specific default is configured.
  • Always write passives for this vendor
  • Never write passives for this vendor

The AerLingus vendor dropdown is open and highlighted, displaying three options: Always write passives for this vendor, Never write passives for this vendor, and Use the default specified above, which is currently selected.

Summary

  • Locate and enable the multiple booking sources capability setting to allow ClearTrip and GDS content in the same booking.
  • Configure GDS PNR creation to control whether a PNR is generated for every trip or only on completed bookings.
  • Enable or disable passive segment writing for non-GDS content when no vendor default is specified.
  • Set vendor-specific passive segment defaults for non-GDS vendors using the Defaults For Specific Non-GDS Vendors dropdown.
