Explaining Why SAP is the Best Choice for Cloud ERP Solutions

Hello everybody and welcome to this video on 'Why SAP'. I'm Paul Saunders. I spent 20 years as an SAP customer, as a CIO and a CTO. I then spent five years as an analyst covering ERP, ERP Strategy and also as the Lead Analyst covering SAP for Gartner. I know SAP very, very well, and now certainly with my nearly four years on the inside, I think we have a really wonderful story to tell. We need to think about, you know, the main question that we should be asking and answering for our customers is 'Why SAP'. You know, a customer can go to many different companies for cloud. They can go to many different companies for ERP and increasingly, you know, in 2025, they can go to many different companies for AI. But why would they come to us? Think about the challenges these companies are facing today. They've got geopolitical challenges. We've got supply chain challenges, energy challenges, there's inflationary pressures and so on. These companies look to us as SAP for help, not just for technology. There's a wonderful book by Tony Fidel, the man who created the hardware for the iPhone and the iPod. And he said, don't just tell me what's great about your product. Tell me about how it improves the customer journey. And this, I think, is one of the most important things that we can focus on. We know we make great technology. Our customers know we make that. And in this era of continual changes, one of the values that we really bring is we bring a level of calm and trust that our customers so desperately need. When we think about AI first, we focus on what a company can deliver with business AI. It's not about the AI technology itself. Let me give you an example of that. If you think about something like Spotify, or Netflix, something that you use in your personal life. Behind the scenes, when you say, I like this band or I like this type of film, you know, it recommends other ones that you might like, and it's really, really good at how it gives you new opportunities to do things and watch different things and listen to different things. But you don't go to Spotify or Netflix because of their AI. You go because of the experience of the value that they give you, and it's the same thing for us at SAP. When it comes to Suite First, we bring together all of the disparate elements of businesses together focused on delivering a world-class product or service to their customer's customer. You know, it's not just bringing together the teams within that organization, the finance team, the sales team, the engineering team, and so on. This is kind of a given with ERP for the last 20 to 30 years. But what we can do with our business networks is bring together the entire network of pieces,  bringing all of this power together, not just for the biggest companies in the world, but for companies of all shapes and sizes. I think one of the other great differentiators that really makes us really so powerful is our ecosystem. If you take us as SAP, we've got a hundred thousand dedicated employees. You multiply that by our huge partner network, and you truly do have an ecosystem that is second to not. So when you are talking about 'Why SAP', I would strongly recommend that when you talk to a customer or a prospect, you ask them, what does a day in the life of one of their customers, one of their partners, their employees look like five years from now? If it's exactly the same as it is today, then they don't need to do anything. But it's not going to be exactly the same as it is today. I have spoken to literally thousands of customers during my career, and I am yet to meet one that says, in five years time, my business will be exactly as it is today. And for those customers, there really is only one company that can help them. And that's us as SAP. Thank you for listening.
