The objective of the Prepare phase is to prepare the environment and the customer for a successful deployment of SAP Ariba solutions. That includes project governance such as setting up the project, defining roles and meeting cadence, and explaining the ways of working.

The key activities in this phase include:
- Your project lead is onboarded by the SAP Onboarding Resource Center team, who will provide an overview of the key aspects of your solutions and scope.
- An internal sales handover call is scheduled by the SAP Customer Onboarding team. This includes the sales team and the delivery team or partner, to ensure key information is transitioned from the sales team to post-sales teams.
- The partner must complete and return the Delivery Engagement Readiness Checklist, or submit the Partner Delivery Readiness survey. This is a prerequisite for the assignment of a Deployment Lead to the project.
- SAP Ariba solutions, both Test and Production, are provisioned by SAP.
- SAP will grant access for the customer System Administrator to SAP for Me and SAP Ariba Test and Production sites.
- The customer System Administrator can provision SAP Cloud ALM and grant access to the project manager to launch an SAP Ariba project following the SAP Activate methodology directly in the tool.
- Your project manager establishes a project charter and a scope statement, and defines a project governance process.
- Your project manager plans the project and assigns team members. Please be sure to discuss your project plan and timelines with your SAP Deployment Lead prior to project kick-off.
- The project manager should ensure team members have access to SAP Learning Hub and learning.sap.com, appropriate training materials, and overview documentation. Your team members can also be enrolled in the SAP Activate community for knowledge sharing and collaboration with other SAP customers.
- Finally, your project manager onboards team members and conducts a project kick-off meeting together with the SAP Deployment Lead
