Introduction and Use Case Scenario
Introduction
SAP Autonomous Sales and Revenue is brought to life through a coordinated ecosystem of Joule Assistants and Joule Agents. These purpose-built AI components work in concert — Assistants capturing seller intent and orchestrating action, Agents executing specialized multi-step workflows autonomously — to free sellers from administrative burden and sharpen their focus on building relationships and closing deals. This lesson explores what Joule Assistants and Agents are, how they are structured, and how the four Sales Assistants and their dedicated agents deliver measurable value at every stage of the lead-to-cash journey.
Use Case Scenario
A Regional Sales Manager at a technology company knows her team works hard. She also knows too much of that work is the wrong kind. Sellers are spending more than 30% of their time on tasks that have nothing to do with selling — manually updating CRM records after every call, pulling together meeting briefs from scattered sources, waiting on quote approvals that could be automated, and reconciling forecasts by hand. Multiple AI tools are deployed across the business, but none of them take action on the seller's behalf. They surface information. They generate suggestions. The seller still has to do the work. What this manager is looking for is AI that acts — digital teammates that can absorb the administrative complexity, operate within defined guardrails, and free her sellers to spend their time where it matters most: building relationships and closing deals.
Joule Assistants and Agents

Joule is SAP's AI copilot — the engagement layer of the SAP Autonomous Enterprise — where people express intent and Joule Assistants and Joule Agents bring together the right data, workflows, and actions across SAP systems and beyond. The architecture operates across three tiers.
Joule Assistants use deep role and process context to coordinate Joule Agents and autonomously execute complex workflows — they act as expert, role-aware teammates who capture intent and orchestrate agents to deliver outcomes at scale.
Joule Agents are purpose-built AI agents with deep business process expertise, accessible through Joule Assistants. They automate well-defined, multi-step enterprise workflows autonomously, without manual seller input.
Skills are the specialized, atomic building blocks at the base — deterministic actions that enable Joule to execute specific, predefined tasks such as retrieving data records or triggering system transactions.
Joule Assistants and Agents for Autonomous Sales and Revenue

For Autonomous Sales and Revenue, four Joule Assistants are available — each coordinating a set of specialized agents across the lead-to-cash stages.

The Deal Qualification Assistant focuses on top-of-funnel lead conversion and pipeline quality. It coordinates the following agents:
- Sales Lead Qualification Agent — Prequalifies high-value leads and routes them without manual intervention
- Lead Routing Agent — Automatically enriches and routes leads to improve conversion
- Sales Engagement Agent — Autonomously engages and qualifies prospects at scale
- Lead Conversion Agent — Personalizes engagement to accelerate lead-to-pipeline conversion

The Sales Assistant empowers every seller to focus on selling by automating deal updates and capturing deal-critical insights. It orchestrates the following agents:
- Deal Manager Agent — Automates deal record updates and data capture
- Meeting Planning and Insights Agent — Prepares personalized meeting briefs and talking points
- Email Insights Agent — Assists with email composition and tracks engagement quality
- Pipeline Risk Analysis Agent — Identifies pipeline risks and opportunity fall-through with agentic intelligence

The Deal Closing Assistant reduces friction in the final stages of the sales cycle and accelerates deal closure by automating the last mile of sales execution. It coordinates the following agents:
- Quote Creation Agent — Empowers sellers with intelligent, optimized quote generation
- Sales Pricing Agent — Reduces pricing errors, protects margins, and improves revenue generation
- Order Automation Agent — Provides sellers with fulfillment insights and drives order visibility to minimize delays
The Demand Generation Assistant drives proactive pipeline creation through coordinated, multichannel outreach grounded in intent data. It orchestrates the following agents:
- Segmentation Agent — Builds tailored account profiles to focus seller effort on the right prospects
- Campaign Agent — Automatically constructs multichannel outreach campaigns based on high-intent signals
- Lead Generation Agent — Orchestrates proactive outreach to prospects demonstrating buying intent
Together, these four Joule Assistants and their eleven specialized agents provide end-to-end agentic coverage across every lead-to-cash stage — enabling sellers to operate with greater precision, speed, and impact.

Summary
This lesson explained how the three-tier Joule architecture — Assistants, Agents, and Skills — powers Autonomous Sales and Revenue end to end. Across four Joule Assistants (Deal Qualification, Sales, Deal Closing, and Demand Generation) and their specialized agents, SAP provides a comprehensive agentic AI ecosystem covering every stage of the lead-to-cash process. The key takeaway: Assistants capture intent and coordinate; Agents execute autonomously with precision — together enabling every seller to operate at peak performance by automating complexity and directing human effort where it creates the greatest business impact.
