RISE with SAP Journey: Installed Base Customers
Installed base customers often come with a lot of complexity and large landscapes. They expect us to lead them into our SAP Business Suite and help them in their transformation while unlocking value every step of the way. That is where RISE with SAP comes into play. This can lead to an entirely public cloud landscape, or a hybrid landscape with SAP S/4HANA Cloud, Private Edition at the core as an interim step.

It is critical is for customers that have done a ‘lift and shift’ exercise to recognize that the journey is not over, it has just started. It is a multi-step journey.
We need to help them do two things:
- Replace all private cloud modules of the old SAP Business Suite, such as SAP Advanced Planning and Optimization, SAP Customer Relationship Management, and SAP Supplier Relationship Management, with our public cloud solutions.
- Shrink our own private cloud core and move capabilities into the public cloud where we do have capabilities available (e.g. in human resources, in manufacturing execution, in procurement etc.)
Why is it good for the customer to go down the path with us? Because our Suite is integrated, the data model is harmonized, the semantics are consistent. The insights are built in, and SAP Business AI functioning on top of the customers operational data along end-to-end processes is unmatched.
Going forward, we need to be much clearer about the "journey" element of a transformation to the SAP Business Suite – drive less ‘lift and shift’ and more transformation from the beginning – outline the roadmap, build the target architecture. That is why we added powerful capabilities to RISE with SAP, such as our Business Transformation Management (BTM) tooling, extensibility credits and an enterprise architect who needs to map out exactly that journey.
This multi-step phase may take time, but we are in it for the long haul – we aim to be a trusted advisor and a strategic partner for our customers.
GROW with SAP Journey: Net New ERP Customers
GROW with SAP supports new ERP customers in starting with SAP Business Suite, driving SAP's future growth alongside theirs. New customers always start with the public cloud. This journey provides an ever-green SAP Business Suite, always on the latest version and innovations.
However, GROW with SAP is not just about ERP. Just like with RISE with SAP, we need to reach the right personas for SAP Business Suite, including finance, supply chain, human resources, procurement, and customer experience. It is important to move beyond the CIO and open doors to multiple entry points into the Suite by persona.

Two Journeys, One Destination
SAP Business Suite is the key destination for our customers. There are two distinct journeys to reach it, and both journeys are intended to help customers succeed in their business using SAP technology.
RISE with SAP supports customers in moving their existing systems and processes to the cloud. GROW with SAP helps new customers start quickly with proven business practices.
