Today I'm going to be talking about SAP's business technology platform and how it can be used to dramatically increase the value that customers can get from their digital supply chain solutions. The BTP underpins all our solutions, which means you don't have to make compromises and customers can use it to really empower their supply chains to become truly intelligent by expanding and integrating beyond the enterprise while still using existing investments and expertise. Let's start by sketching what SAP is all about. At SAP, we're well known for our applications, and we've been the acknowledged leader for our integrated business applications for ages. So of course, the core, that's S4 or ECC. But there's more, the cloud applications, such as today's focus, digital supply chain. But let's fill out the picture and touch on the other LOBs where BTP also plays. Intelligent Spend Management, which has much overlap with digital supply chain. And let's not forget the customer, with solutions such as customer experience. Yeah, that's the customer, the one with the crown on. And HR, or as we now call it, human experience management, both employees and the external workforce. And all sit on this common foundation of technology assets to keep everything integrated and secure. It's had a few names along the way, but it's now called the Business Technology Platform, natively integrating with all of these solutions to offer a toolbox of purpose-built microservices to meet unique customer requirements. But applications which don't connect to the Y-Day world are inherently limited in the value they can bring. And the business network allows all lines of business, but particularly the digital supply chain to reach their customers, assets, and suppliers, if you like reaching out beyond the four walls. So let's focus now on the DSC, and the three ways that the BTP can enhance it. Let's start with the first of these, extending the digital supply chain applications. I think we've all got a lot more respect for the pharmaceutical supply chain in the last year. Let me tell you about Takeda, who have a great new treatment for a debilitating disease based on stem cell therapy. But the supply chain is made much more complex because the serum's only viable for 72 hours. But by working with SAP Services and Support, Takeda was able to implement a fully custom-made solution on BTP. It's a control tower approach to allow them to track the entire supply chain process from order placement through production until delivery to the hospital. It uses BTP elements such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, and blockchain. And the solution is now up and running in 150 hospitals in 32 countries and multiple languages, delivering critical medicine to thousands of patients worldwide. And all built in five months. Now the second is a broad definition. I'll just say intelligence for now. The BTP has a lot of capabilities that you can turn on and use to make smarter decisions. Part of this is what we call 360-degree insights across the enterprise and across the whole supply chain. Let me give you an example. Kaiser Compressor sells air compressor equipment, I've met their CIO Falco Lameter a couple of times, and they've actually changed their business to not charge for compressors, but uniquely to offer air as a service to meet unique customer needs. Pretty clever, huh? But they could only do that by proactively servicing machines at customer sites to ensure maximum uptime and lower costs using the Asset Intelligence Network. And this predictive maintenance program uses BTP specifically the IoT solution to gather and aggregate sensor data from customer machines. The data intelligence solution then gathers insights and the analytics cloud renders it all in ways that make sense. So the BTP has allowed Kaiser to innovate a whole new business model, all about offering compressed air to customers, not about selling units. It gives them a better return on assets since those machines are now being used more efficiently. And the customers in those paint shops, those machine shops, can get access to what they want a reliable source of compressed air. The third of these pillars, integration, allows you to re-route existing business processes to adapt the business needs and also to link critical data and processes to external sources and third-party systems. examples and a good one of these is the Danish engineering company Vestas who are well known for the production of wind turbines. It's a precision engineering business in a very fast moving space and they talk about how BCP allows them to keep turning up the innovation cycle. Their engineers, marketing people, material scientists are always coming up with new ideas and they need to remove the bottleneck created by waiting for IT to develop new reports and models. And the critical issue here is data integration and presentation. You see, as well as producing power, these turbines produce an overwhelming amount of data. And this has to be combined with traditional enterprise data, such as costing, supply availability, and demand. Even weather data needs to get in there, and that's not a conventional requirement. So the SAP Data Warehouse Cloud can now be used by front-end developers and business analysts to enable quick builds of new analytical use cases and mock-ups involving large sets of SAP and third-party data. So not only is Vesta able to accommodate new reports quickly, their system is 240 times faster to run a report. That's down from 20 minutes to just five seconds. As a result, engineers can iterate more on product issues and ideas and come up with better solutions. as an added benefit, the platform has freed up IT to focus on other tasks. Got a bit of space down here, left for one more. So you think that you might have integration challenges, let me tell you about the French engineering company Vinci. They need to integrate a lot of systems. 660 to be precise. So they created, for example, mobile apps based on BTP's extension suite to capture the timesheets and project costs and activities from their engineers. And the program reduced the time needed to create quarterly reports by 98 percent, saving 600 hours per month. This allowed them to spend more time with customers, better for everyone, and supporting Vinci's growth. Now I could give customer examples all day, but it looks like I finally went out of room down here. And so these are just our examples for today, and every customer has their own unique way of getting additional value from their LRB solutions. He was walking along one day in Haarlem in the Netherlands, which lies below the sea level, with the sea kept out by huge dikes or livies. He saw the dike leaking, so he famously put his finger in it and the water was kept out. Now while he was standing there plugging the hole, he saw a huge Dutch trading ship of the Dutch East India Company returning from the East Indies. That little boy was inspired to become one of the most famous explorers, discovering and sailing on new oceans. And that's where BTP is today. We're transitioning from just plugging holes to sailing new oceans, just like that Kaiser example, to whole new business models. And the BTP supplies the extensibility, the intelligence and the integration to provide these solutions to the digital supply chain. So, what kind of additional value can you get? Well, you can use extensions to cover more extensive business processes, such as Kaiser, who use it to offer a pay-for-air business model. You can incorporate more users, such as Vinci, who now have engineers using their systems, saving 600 man hours per month. You get more resilience, like Takeda, who can now deliver their life-saving treatments reliably to 150 hospitals. And a way to think about that is the higher on time in full percentage to customers leading to higher customer satisfaction. And more innovation such as Vestas with their super rapid analysis to allow their engineers to run their simulations 240 times faster. So that's just a few examples. Having the ability to innovate around the edge gives customers the flexibility to adopt the technologies you need not only for success now, but success in the future. So with the BTP, you'll never run out of the potential to do more. Thanks very much.
