Using Manage Quantitative and Qualitative ESG Data Applications to Record ESG Data

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to use Manage Quantitative and Qualitative ESG Data Applications to Record ESG Data.

The Manage Quantitative ESG Data Application

With this app, you can record quantitative data for measures and for basic custom metrics from other SAP systems or files. Based on the measure data uploaded, SAP Sustainability Control Tower will calculate the value for SAP-provided or previously created custom metrics. For basic custom metrics, data is directly uploaded because no calculation from measures is required.

The Manage Quantitative ESG Data application allows you to import new ESG data from files or SAP systems, correct data for existing uploaded data, validate and publish imported data for the use in other apps, browse and export your imported data. You can also review and download error logs helping you to identify and correct errors in your data. The app simplifies the process of handling quantitative ESG data effectively.

There are three tabs in the app, Measures - Actuals, Custom Metrics - Actuals, and All Metrics - Targets. It means that actuals are generally uploaded on measure level and for Basic Custom Metrics directly on metric level, because there is no calculation. Targets are always uploaded on metric level.

This Screenshot highlights the tabs Measures, Custom Metrics and All Metrics - Target under Manage Quantitative ESG Data.

The Manage Qualitative ESG Data Application

With this app, you can record data for qualitative metrics; either SAP-provided or custom ones previously created in the Manage Metrics Application.

This Screenshot Shows the Manage Qualitative ESG Data Application under Data Management.

The Manage Qualitative ESG Data application allows you to import textual ESG data for all those qualitative metrics whose configuration has been completed, and which are ready for data input.

To add qualitative data, you select a metric and define the period, reporting node level that you want to capture data for. You can also decide to define a Corporate Summary for the metric which represents the entire organization, without having any reporting structure assigned. Then, you manually add disclosure information to the qualitative metric and publish the data.

There are three reference types for qualitative metrics:

  • Narrative: A descriptive disclosure.
  • Semi-Narrative: A descriptive and a quantitative value.
  • Boolean (Yes/No): A yes-or-no disclosure.
