Migrating Supplier Data from Classic Architecture to New Architecture

Objectives

After completing this lesson, you will be able to:
  • Explain the differences between classic architecture and new architecture in SAP Ariba Supplier Management solutions.
  • Describe the supplier migration process.

Differences Between Classic Architecture and New Architecture

Classic architecture refers to SAP Ariba solutions that use the supplier organization data model. The supplier organization data model has an SAP Ariba-specific structure.

Supplier data in the classic architecture includes:

  • Supplier organization
  • Supplier users

In the classic architecture:

  • Supplier data is managed in Ariba Administrator
  • Your organization collects information about suppliers using the supplier profile questionnaire

Note

Customers with an existing SAP Ariba solution who want to add or upgrade to SAP Ariba Supplier Lifecycle and Performance or SAP Ariba Supplier Information and Performance Management (new architecture) must migrate their existing supplier data to the unified vendor model.

New architecture refers to SAP Ariba Supplier Management solutions that use the unified vendor model. As the unified vendor model is based on the SAP ERP business partner data model, its structure resembles the ERP structure.

Supplier data in the new architecture includes:

  • Suppliers
  • Supplier contacts

In the new architecture:

  • Supplier data is managed in SM Administration
  • Your organization collects information about suppliers using dedicated project templates and modular questionnaires
