Note
This feature is optional for this release. With the Q1 2025 release, SAP Ariba plans to turn it on for all customers.Description
Risk categories can now be expanded to include up to 25 custom risk categories. With custom risk categories the risk exposure can include data from engagement projects, customer data, and external data from third-party data providers.
Custom risk categories provide the customer with more flexibility and expanded insights into their suppliers’ risk exposure based on the information that’s important to them when making business decisions.
When this feature is enabled, all risk categories are custom categories, and there are no longer any predefined risk categories. The previously predefined risk categories Environmental & social, Financial, Operational, and Regulatory & legal are now custom categories in site master data.
Custom categories are created, updated, and deactivated in site master data.
The names of the tabs for default and licensed provider data in the supplier profile haven't changed. The names are based on the type of risk data that the providers send, not the risk category.
Prerequisites
To enable custom risk categories, a member of the Customer Administrator group in your organization must enable the self-service site configuration parameter Enable custom risk categories (Application.SR.Risk.EnableCustomRiskCategories).
If you set this parameter to Yes, you can't revert it back to No.
When the parameter is enabled, the Risk Exposure Calculation Model Improvements feature (ARI-22870) is added to your site.
After enabling the parameter, and before you import or change any custom category master data, you must create a new draft version in the configuration editor and activate it.
You must be a member of the Customer Administrator group to import custom risk categories into your SAP Ariba Supplier Risk sites.
You must be a member of the Supplier Risk Manager group to configure risk exposure.
To create an application and request access to use the SAP Ariba APIs relevant to this feature, you must have access to the SAP Ariba developer portal.
Restrictions
Showing custom category data currently isn't supported in the following applications or areas:
- SAP Ariba Contracts
- SAP Ariba Sourcing
- SAP Ariba Buying or SAP Ariba Buying and Invoicing with the guided buying capability
- The SAP Ariba Supplier Risk dashboard on SAP Analytics Cloud
- The supplier profile summary (NGSM-2959)
If you enable the custom category feature (ARI-16780), these applications and areas show overall risk exposure, but don't show category risk exposure. Custom category data is supported in the classic supplier 360° profile.
Changes to Existing Functionality
All risk categories are custom risk categories. This includes the previously predefined risk categories Environmental & social, Financial, Operational, and Regulatory & legal. If you're using these risk categories, they're now located in site master data.
Suppliers must have contributing factors in the 1–100 range for a risk category to show in the risk exposure. If a risk category doesn't show for a supplier, it means that there aren’t any contributing factors for that risk category.
Active custom categories that have no contributing data show in the supplier profile.
The Risk Exposure API endpoints have an optional new parameter Accept-Language for the locale used for translation.
The Risk Exposure API endpoints have the following new results:
- exposureLevelName is the name of the supplier's overall risk exposure level.
- localizedExposureLevelName is the translated name for the overall risk exposure level.
- localizedName is the translated risk category name.
- weight is the weight value of the risk category.
- exposureLevelName in the risk category results is the name of the supplier's exposure level for the risk category.
- localizedExposureLevelName in the risk category results is the translated name of the risk category exposure level.
User Interface Changes
The By risk category tile on the Supplier Risk dashboard has the following changes:
- A View all link that opens a popup that shows all the active custom risk categories with contributing data in a bar graph.
- The popup that opens when you choose the View all link has a zoom in icon, a zoom out icon, and a reset icon.
The Risk exposure tab on the Risk page of the supplier profile has the following changes:
- The Risk exposure trend line doesn't show exposure values calculated with previously defined risk categories. Only exposure values calculated with custom categories are shown.
- The risk categories are listed in a table format.
- The table has search, filter, sort, and pagination options.
- The table has columns for Risk category, Risk exposure level, Risk exposure, and Contributing factors.
- The Contributing factors column shows the number of contributing factors for each active risk category. Choose the link to get a popup showing the contributing factors for that risk category.
Administrator Interface Changes
The Category weights tab in the Configure risk exposure area of the Supplier risk administration page is updated with a new format:
- The category weight settings are now in a table format with columns for Category, Status, Contribution (in percentage), Low risk threshold, and High risk threshold.
- A Show enabled link is added that shows only the Enabled risk categories in the Status column. Once selected, the Show enabled link changes to a Show all link.
- The Show all link shows the Enabled and Disabled risk categories in the Status column.
- Test your settings is no longer on the page.
The Mappings tab in the Configure risk exposure area of the Supplier risk administration page is now located next to the Category weights tab.
The Field configurations tab in the Configure risk exposure area of the Supplier risk administration page has a new Engagement fields table where you set up the values and risk exposures for your engagement fields.
Changes to Reporting
The Licensed Provider Summary report no longer has a column on each tab for the risk category.
