ARI-16780: Custom Risk Categories

Technical Details

  • Applicable Products
    • SAP Ariba Supplier Risk
    • SAP Ariba APIs
    • SAP Ariba developer portal
  • User Type
    • Buyer
  • Enablement Model
    • Customer configured

Note

This feature is optional for this release. With the Q1 2025 release, SAP Ariba plans to turn it on for all customers.

Description

Risk categories can now be expanded to include up to 25 custom risk categories. With custom risk categories the risk exposure can include data from engagement projects, customer data, and external data from third-party data providers.

Custom risk categories provide the customer with more flexibility and expanded insights into their suppliers’ risk exposure based on the information that’s important to them when making business decisions.

When this feature is enabled, all risk categories are custom categories, and there are no longer any predefined risk categories. The previously predefined risk categories Environmental & social, Financial, Operational, and Regulatory & legal are now custom categories in site master data.

Custom categories are created, updated, and deactivated in site master data.

The names of the tabs for default and licensed provider data in the supplier profile haven't changed. The names are based on the type of risk data that the providers send, not the risk category.

Prerequisites

To enable custom risk categories, a member of the Customer Administrator group in your organization must enable the self-service site configuration parameter Enable custom risk categories (Application.SR.Risk.EnableCustomRiskCategories).

If you set this parameter to Yes, you can't revert it back to No.

When the parameter is enabled, the Risk Exposure Calculation Model Improvements feature (ARI-22870) is added to your site.

After enabling the parameter, and before you import or change any custom category master data, you must create a new draft version in the configuration editor and activate it.

You must be a member of the Customer Administrator group to import custom risk categories into your SAP Ariba Supplier Risk sites.

You must be a member of the Supplier Risk Manager group to configure risk exposure.

To create an application and request access to use the SAP Ariba APIs relevant to this feature, you must have access to the SAP Ariba developer portal.

Restrictions

Showing custom category data currently isn't supported in the following applications or areas:

  • SAP Ariba Contracts
  • SAP Ariba Sourcing
  • SAP Ariba Buying or SAP Ariba Buying and Invoicing with the guided buying capability
  • The SAP Ariba Supplier Risk dashboard on SAP Analytics Cloud
  • The supplier profile summary (NGSM-2959)

If you enable the custom category feature (ARI-16780), these applications and areas show overall risk exposure, but don't show category risk exposure. Custom category data is supported in the classic supplier 360° profile.

Changes to Existing Functionality

All risk categories are custom risk categories. This includes the previously predefined risk categories Environmental & social, Financial, Operational, and Regulatory & legal. If you're using these risk categories, they're now located in site master data.

Suppliers must have contributing factors in the 1–100 range for a risk category to show in the risk exposure. If a risk category doesn't show for a supplier, it means that there aren’t any contributing factors for that risk category.

Active custom categories that have no contributing data show in the supplier profile.

The Risk Exposure API endpoints have an optional new parameter Accept-Language for the locale used for translation.

The Risk Exposure API endpoints have the following new results:

  • exposureLevelName is the name of the supplier's overall risk exposure level.
  • localizedExposureLevelName is the translated name for the overall risk exposure level.
  • localizedName is the translated risk category name.
  • weight is the weight value of the risk category.
  • exposureLevelName in the risk category results is the name of the supplier's exposure level for the risk category.
  • localizedExposureLevelName in the risk category results is the translated name of the risk category exposure level.

User Interface Changes

The By risk category tile on the Supplier Risk dashboard has the following changes:

  • A View all link that opens a popup that shows all the active custom risk categories with contributing data in a bar graph.
  • The popup that opens when you choose the View all link has a zoom in icon, a zoom out icon, and a reset icon.

The Risk exposure tab on the Risk page of the supplier profile has the following changes:

  • The Risk exposure trend line doesn't show exposure values calculated with previously defined risk categories. Only exposure values calculated with custom categories are shown.
  • The risk categories are listed in a table format.
  • The table has search, filter, sort, and pagination options.
  • The table has columns for Risk category, Risk exposure level, Risk exposure, and Contributing factors.
  • The Contributing factors column shows the number of contributing factors for each active risk category. Choose the link to get a popup showing the contributing factors for that risk category.

Administrator Interface Changes

The Category weights tab in the Configure risk exposure area of the Supplier risk administration page is updated with a new format:

  • The category weight settings are now in a table format with columns for Category, Status, Contribution (in percentage), Low risk threshold, and High risk threshold.
  • A Show enabled link is added that shows only the Enabled risk categories in the Status column. Once selected, the Show enabled link changes to a Show all link.
  • The Show all link shows the Enabled and Disabled risk categories in the Status column.
  • Test your settings is no longer on the page.

The Mappings tab in the Configure risk exposure area of the Supplier risk administration page is now located next to the Category weights tab.

The Field configurations tab in the Configure risk exposure area of the Supplier risk administration page has a new Engagement fields table where you set up the values and risk exposures for your engagement fields.

Changes to Reporting

The Licensed Provider Summary report no longer has a column on each tab for the risk category.

ARI-20913: Supplier Risk Segmentation and Risk Analysis

Technical Details

  • Applicable Products
    • SAP Ariba Supplier Risk
  • User Type
    • Buyer
  • Enablement Model
    • Automatically on

Description

This feature allows SAP Ariba Supplier Risk users to segment suppliers primarily based on country/region scores and commodity risk scores along with risk exposure scores, identify high risk suppliers, initiate single or bulk engagement requests to mitigate risk, and export the report to a spreadsheet.

From the supplier risk dashboard, you can navigate to the Segmented view by choosing the All Suppliers button or selecting the search icon from the search bar and selecting Segmented view from the drop down list in the Supplier Status field. You can then use the Filters button to further filter the segmented view using the following filter options:

  • ERP Vendor ID
  • Risk exposure
  • Commodity (The commodity filter only allows filtering by one commodity at a time)
  • Company name
  • Follow
  • Commodity risk score
  • Country/Region
  • Country/Region risk score

If no filtering is applied, the segmented view displays the following supplier data:

  • ERP Vendor ID
  • Company name
  • Country/Region
  • Country/Region risk score
  • Risk exposure
  • Follow

Once you've selected the necessary filters and displayed the supplier segmentation report, you can use the Export function to download the report to a spreadsheet for further analysis.

Customer Benefit

SAP Ariba Supplier Risk users can easily segment suppliers based on country/region scores and commodity risk scores and take bulk actions for high risk suppliers.

Prerequisites

  • A deployed SAP Ariba strategic sourcing solutions site that includes SAP Ariba Supplier Risk.
  • To create bulk engagement requests, the Create Bulk Engagement Requests parameter (Application.SR.Engagement.BulkCreateEngagementRequests) must be set to Yes by your administrator.

User Interface Changes

The supplier search function on the Supplier Risk dashboard has the following changes:

  • An All Suppliers link navigates to a segmented supplier view on the Supplier List page.
  • On the Supplier List page, a Filters link is available that opens the Filters window.
  • On the segmented view page, a Create Engagement Request button has been added to create an engagement request for one or more supplier.
  • You can navigate to the segmented view from the Supplier Search page, by selecting Segmented view from the Supplier Status drop-down menu.

Administrator Information

  • To create bulk engagement requests, the parameter Create Bulk Engagement Requests (Application.SR.Engagement.BulkCreateEngagementRequests) must be set to Yes.
  • You can limit the number of suppliers allowed for bulk engagement requests by setting the supplier limit in the Supplier Limit parameter (Application.SR.Engagement.BulkCreateSupplierLimit).

ARI-22870: Risk Exposure Calculation Model Improvements

Technical Details

  • Applicable Products
    • SAP Ariba Supplier Risk
  • User Type
    • Buyer
  • Enablement Model
    • Automatically on

Description

The risk exposure calculation has been updated with a new calculation model that combines the incident model and supplier model. A supplier's risk exposure now includes the data from both models providing a more robust view of their potential risk exposure.

The new risk calculation has the following configuration changes:

  • Adverse media incidents are now mapped to custom risk categories by your organization.
  • Natural disasters from GDACS are now a standard field so your organization configures the risk category, weight, and exposure override.

Note

You must complete the required configuration in feature ARI-16780: Custom Risk Categories before you can map your adverse media incidents and define natural disasters in the configuration editor for this feature.

Prerequisites

Custom risk categories feature ARI-16780 must be configured before mapping your adverse media incidents and defining natural disasters in the configuration editor. After you've configured your custom categories, make a new draft version in the configuration editor, map your risk incidents to custom categories, configure the GDACS standard field, and activate the new version in the configuration editor.

You must be a member of the Supplier Risk Manager group to configure risk exposure.

Changes to Existing Functionality

Existing SAP Ariba Supplier Risk customers will notice a change in the risk exposure due to the new calculation method. The active suppliers have a new risk exposure.

Adverse media incident types are mapped to custom risk categories in the configuration editor to be a contributing factor in the risk exposure.

Natural disasters from the Global Disaster Alert and Coordination System (GDACS) are a standard field that is defined in the configuration editor to be a contributing factor in the risk exposure.

Administrator Interface Changes

A new Incident mapping tab in the Configure risk exposure area of the Supplier risk administration page replaces the Incident types tab, as shown in the image below:

A new standard field GDACS on the Field configurations tab in the configuration editor, as shown in the image below:

ARI-23844: Import Country Risk Score to Configure Risk Exposure

Technical Details

  • Applicable Products
    • SAP Ariba Supplier Risk
  • User Type
    • Buyer
  • Enablement Model
    • Customer configured

Description

SAP Ariba Supplier Risk now provides you the flexibility to import and use your own source of country risk score information for use in configuring risk exposure of suppliers. Use this feature when you prefer imported country risk score information rather than the current default source of country risk score data to configure risk exposure.

Prerequisites

  • The self-service site configuration parameter, Enable import of country risk score information (Application.SR.Risk.CountryRiskScoreImport) must be enabled in your site.
  • To import file in SM Administration, you must be a member of the Customer Administrator group, and the Supplier Risk Manager group or the Supplier Risk Configuration Expert group.
  • To use your own source of country risk score data, import the file in SM Administration. Navigate to SM AdministrationData Import or export, choose Country Risk Score as your file type and perform the import.

Changes to Existing Functionality

Currently, SAP Ariba Supplier Risk considers country risk score for use in configuring risk exposure of all suppliers. It uses country risk score data from the World Economic Forum (WEF) as the default source of information.

With this feature enabled, use of country risk score data while configuring risk exposure is optional. Also, you have the ability to choose between importing your own source of country risk score information or using the existing default source.

User Interface Changes

When you import your own country risk data, all the corresponding text in the SAP Ariba Supplier Risk user interface with reference to World Economic Forum (WEF) is replaced with import related information.

Administrator Interface Changes

  • SM AdministrationData Import or export section includes Country Risk Score as one of the File type options.
  • Supplier risk administrationConfigure risk exposure(Action)Data sources tab includes Country/Region risk as an option. If you choose Country/Region risk, new Import and WEF options appear.

    Note

If you choose Import, you must configure the corresponding options such as Risk category, Field type, Field value, and so on, for the Country/Region risk field in the Field configurations tab.
