Monitoring SAP BW/4HANA Processes Using the Process Graph App

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to monitor SAP BW/4HANA processes using the Process Graph app.

The Process Graph App

After activating the data collection for technical monitoring screens, the Process Graph app shows resource consumption from BW processes. The app is accessed from the BW/4HANA Cockpit.

In SAP BW/4HANA based systems the classic request and status management is no longer used. It was replaced by the Request Transaction Sequence Numbers (0REQTSN) and it is referred as request status and process management (RSPM). It is used not only for loading processes but also for data staging, distribution, streaming, and planning processes for InfoObjects, aDSO, and Open Hub Destinations. Refer to SAP note 2482164 for details.

Besides these processes, other processes can be integrated in SAP BW/4HANA process chains, such as ABAP routines, housekeeping processes and delta merge jobs.

With SAP BW/4HANA 2023 SPS 4, a Process Graph app was introducted. It provides you with a graphical representation of concurrent BW processes, including RSPM and process chain processes. It allows you to analyze the resource consumption of these processes in ABAP and the SAP HANA database using comprehensive selection, grouping, and visualization capabilities.

As a prerequisite, log on to transaction code STC01. Then, run the task list SAP_BASIS_TMO_SETUP_SYSTEM. (Refer to Activating the Data Collection for System Workload Monitoring in the ABAP Platform documentation). This task list activates the data collection for technical monitoring screens in the ABAP platform.
