Before financial plan data is posted, such as when plan data is imported using a CSV file or exported from SAP Analytics Cloud, the system performs checks to make sure that the data is complete and correct.
Substitution or validation can be used to automatically substitute or validate field values based on defined preconditions (fields/functions). Substitution or validation rules can be used to automatically influence planned financial data, actual financial data, as well as settlement data. For these rules, a set of fields is available as criteria.

Since SAP S/4HANA 2025 FPS1, the following fields are also supported:
- Sold-to-Party
- Ship-to-Party
- Bill-to-Party
- Accounting Indicator
