Configuring Permit to Work

This topic contains the Customizing settings required to set up the correct functioning of the Permit to Work solution. Based on the values defined in the Customizing settings, the Permit to Work can be tailored to suit your specific business needs.

For the Customizing entries required for the Permit to Work scenarios, go to SAP Customizing Implementation Guide Plant Maintenance and Customer Service Work Clearance Management Permit to Work. The activities in this chapter are only applicable for the Permit to Work Fiori applications.

Business Role Assignment

To assign the Business Role Configuration Expert - Business Process Configuration to your user follow the below mentioned steps

Log on to the SAP S/4HANA Cloud, public edition Central Business Configuration training system with your user credentials and

• Navigate to the Maintain Business Users application
• Scroll through the list of users to find your business user.
• Select your business user
• Choose Add and search for the required business role
• Select the checkbox beside the Configuration Expert - Business Process Configuration. business role
• Choose Apply, then OK to close the dialog box. You now see the business roles assigned.
• Choose Save.
• Select your user in the upper right corner and select Sign Out.

  Navigating CBC

  To Check or Maintain the configuration items follow the below mentioned steps

• Log on to the SAP S/4HANA Cloud, public edition training system with your user credentials
• Navigate to the Implementation Activities application.
• Manage your Solution Screen is displayed
• Access your configuration by searching or expanding the Tree structure
• Select the Node
• Maintain the entries for each configuration item.

In this Customizing activity, you define the application profile for a planning plant. The settings activate the usage of the specific planning plant in a Permit to Work scenario. You can define the relationships and settings for the planning plant required for the work permit.

In this section, you define the data that can be used for the work permit.

Define Nature of Work

In this Customizing activity, you define the groups that represent the nature of work such as Electric Work, Combustion, and Work at Height and create the relevant items to characterize the types of work involved in each work group (Breaking Confinement, Chemical Handling).

Define Nature of Work

In this Customizing activity, you define the work permit types and their settings for a planning plant. Specify the number ranges for the work permit number and the default values for the validity settings. If the validity settings are not maintained, the system will set the current date and time as the validity start and validity end date and time.

In this Customizing activity, you define the work permit template types and their relevant settings for your planning plant.

In this Customizing activity, you assign the nature of work groups and items defined in the activity Define Nature of Work to a work permit type or a work permit template type. When you map multiple work items with the same work group, the items are grouped together under the same work group when a work permit is created using the specific planning plant and work permit type (or template type) combination.

In this Customizing activity, you define the number ranges for the records. The number can be allocated by the system (internal number range) .
