Describing the tools of the agent-led toolchain

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to describe the role and key value of each tool in the agent-led toolchain.

Tools of the Agent-led Toolchain

The agent-led toolchain is not a single product - it is a curated set of complementary solutions, each addressing a specific dimension of transformation. Together, they cover the full transformation lifecycle across people, processes, applications, and data. This lesson introduces the various tools - SAP LeanIX, SAP Signavio, SAP Cloud ALM and explains their core role in the transformation process.

Diagram of the RISE with SAP Methodology. The top layer shows a standardized framework with three phases: Discover and onboard (Discover, prepare), Modernize and run (Explore, realize, deploy, run), and Continuously innovate. Below this is a layer for Expert guidance. The central section features an Agent-led toolchain divided into Business transformation and Migration and modernization. Business transformation covers People (Digital adoption, eLearning, and change management), Processes (Business process management and mining), Applications (Enterprise architecture, Application lifecycle management, Quality assurance and automated testing, and Extensibility), and Data (Data management and transition). Migration and modernization focuses on fast-tracking migration, continuous optimization, managing complexity, and reducing costs.

The image below depicts the various tools behind each discipline.

Here you can see the specific products behind each discipline. SAP Signavio for process management. SAP LeanIX for enterprise architecture. SAP Cloud ALM as the operational backbone. Tricentis for quality assurance. Syniti for data migration. WalkMe for digital adoption. SAP Build and Integration Suite for extensibility. These are not new products. What's new is how they work together — connected by AI agents.

SAP LeanIX - Enterprise Architecture Management

SAP LeanIX is the leading solution for enterprise architecture management in the toolchain. It provides a comprehensive map of the entire application landscape - showing which applications exist, what they do, how they are connected, and what their strategic status is.

Key value: SAP LeanIX clarifies what to keep, retire, or migrate - giving architects and project leaders a fact-based foundation for transformation decisions. It serves as the leading system for all application architecture data. It feeds strategic roadmaps directly into SAP Cloud ALM, WalkMe, SAP Enterprise Application Quality Assurance Solutions by Tricentis, and SAP Advanced Data Migration and Management by Syniti.

SAP Signavio - Business Process Management

SAP Signavio is the premier product for the process dimension of transformation. It enables organizations to model, analyze, and optimize their business processes - and compare them against SAP best practices using process benchmarking and mining capabilities.

Key value: SAP Signavio is the master for all process-related data in the toolchain. Process designs finalized in SAP Signavio flow into SAP Cloud ALM for implementation.

SAP Cloud ALM - Project and Quality Management

SAP Cloud ALM is the operational foundation of the entire agent-led toolchain. It supports both implementation and operations, providing project planning, implementation monitoring, quality gates, test management, and change management on a single central platform.

Key value: SAP Cloud ALM is where strategy meets execution. It receives inputs from SAP LeanIX (roadmaps) and SAP Signavio (process designs) and translates them into actionable project work. It is also the foundation on which all seven migration and modernization assistants run.

WalkMe - Digital Adoption

Technology alone does not guarantee a successful transformation. WalkMe addresses the people dimension by delivering in-app guidance, onboarding, and ongoing enablement directly inside SAP applications - at the moment of need, without switching to a separate training system.

Key value: WalkMe ensures that the investment in new processes and technology actually translates into user adoption. It integrates with SAP Signavio to deliver process-led guidance - helping users follow the newly designed processes directly within the application.

SAP Enterprise Application Quality Assurance Solutions by Tricentis - Automated Testing

SAP enterprise application quality assurance solutions by Tricentis is a SAP Solution Extension (SolEx) that addresses one of the most critical risks in any SAP transformation: the inability to test fast enough to keep pace with the rate of change. The solution covers four complementary products:

  • SAP Change Impact Analysis by Tricentis (CIA) - Analyzes what changed in the SAP system and identifies which business processes and test cases are actually affected.
  • SAP Enterprise Continuous Testing by Tricentis (ECT) - Automates regression testing using a no-code, model-based approach. Test scripts are resilient to system changes - they do not break every time the UI or configuration changes.
  • SAP Enterprise Performance Testing by Tricentis (EPT) - Validates that the system performs under load before go-live. Critical for cloud migrations where performance assumptions must be validated at scale.
  • SAP Enterprise Data Integrity Testing by Tricentis (EDIT) - Verifies data accuracy across systems during and after migration. Ensures that data moved by Syniti or other tools arrives correctly in the target system.

Key value: Test cases based on SAP Signavio process models are passed to SAP Cloud ALM for test case creation and to Tricentis for automated execution, linking process design directly to quality assurance.

SAP Advanced Data Migration and Management by Syniti - Data Migration and Quality

SAP Advanced Data Migration and Management by Syniti is a SAP Solution Extension (SolEx) that addresses the data dimension of transformation. It is not a replacement for SAP's native ETL tools - it is an orchestration and management layer that brings people, methodology, and technology together across the entire migration lifecycle.

The solution supports an eight-step migration process:

  • Extract - Stage and catalog source data from virtually any source system.
  • Assess - Analyze data structure and quality with embedded profiling tools.
  • Design - Define source-to-target mapping and transformation rules.
  • Enrich - Use web forms to allow business users to construct and cleanse data.
  • Transform - Reorganize and reformat data to meet target system requirements.
  • Simulate - Execute test loads to validate data is business-ready before go-live.
  • Load - Transfer data to target systems (SAP S/4HANA, SAP SuccessFactors, SAP Ariba, and more).
  • Reconcile - Monitor migration quality metrics and confirm data integrity post-load.

Key value: Syniti helps deliver on-time, on-budget go-lives without data surprises through strong data migration and quality management.

Lesson Summary

You should now be able to:

  • Describe the role of the following tools: SAP LeanIX (enterprise architecture), SAP Signavio (business processes), SAP Cloud ALM (project and quality management, operational foundation), WalkMe (digital adoption), Tricentis (automated testing across CIA, ECT, EPT, EDIT), and Syniti (data migration and quality).
  • Identify SAP Cloud ALM as the leading system for project execution, SAP Signavio as the master for process data, and SAP LeanIX as the leading system for application architecture.
  • Explain how Tricentis and Syniti are embedded in the Agent-led Toolchain as SAP Solution Extensions - Tricentis in the Test Management Assistant for automated test execution, Syniti in the Data Management Assistant for data quality and migration.
