Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to explain the Latest Career Worksheet.

The Manager View in Latest Career Worksheet

Managers can track their team's career development with the manager view of Latest Career Worksheet.

To enable the Team View for managers:

  1. Ensure the default Career Worksheet template has the following XML configurations:
    • The EM or EX role is granted all necessary permissions.
      • If managers are allowed to view their team's target roles, make sure that they're granted the private-access permission.
      • If managers are allowed to view role readiness, make sure that they're granted the readiness_meter permission.
      • If managers are allowed to view the skills tracker, make sure that they're granted the last_rating and gap_graph permissions.
    • The rating-scale-id element is included in the last_rating field definition.

    Note

If you do not have access to Provisioning, please contact Professional Services for help with XML changes.
  2. Grant managers the following role-based user permissions and set the corresponding target population:
    • Goal Plan Permissions: Either all goal plan templates, or be sure the default Career Worksheet template is selected
    • Team View under Growth Portfolio permissions
    • Team View: Summary under Career Development Planning permissions
      • We recommend restricting the target population of the Team View: Summary permission to managers' direct reports or matrix reports. If a team has many current roles, consider narrowing the target population to an even smaller group for a better user experience.

Note

Make sure that the target population of the Team View: Summary permission is within the target population of the default Career Worksheet template and Team View permissions.

Team View: Summary

Managers can track their team's career development in a summary view, including career aspirations and skill growth.

The Team View summary is available through the Team View button at the top of the Growth Portfolio landing page. The following sections are available with the Summary tab:

  • Roles and Aspirations: The job roles employees currently hold and the top three most popular target roles employees have added. Besides role names, managers can view the team's readiness for each role and employees' information. If the employee's name is selected, the role details for that employee opens. The Roles and Aspirations screen of the Team View Summary is shown.
  • Identify Skill Strengths: The top five skills and attributes where employees meet or exceed expectations. Managers can select a skill or attribute and an employee to track their skill development over time. They can also filter skills and attributes by roles and focus on critical skills and attributes only. The Identify Skill Strength section of the Team View Summary is shown.
  • Recognize Skills to Improve: The top five skills and attributes where employees have gaps compared to expectations. The actions available in this section are the same as those in the Identify Skill Strengths section. If there are assignments or development goals related to the employee's skills, they're available to view under Development Activities. And if an employee is not yet rated for that attribute it will be noted.
The Team View Summary Recognize Skills to Improve screen is shown, with the development activities list open.
  • Skill Passions: The top five skills and attributes a manager's team members have marked as passionate are displayed. The section lists each skill or attribute, shows how many team members are interested, and provides the names of those team members. The skills and attributes are ranked by the number of team members who have expressed interest. Here's a screenshot of the feature.
