Setting up administrator permissions for Goal Management

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to review the permissions required for Goal Management as an administrator.

Goal Management Permissions for Administrators

Some of the actions available to an administrator will be located in the Manage Goals category in Manage Permission Roles (where Role-Based Permissions are set), including access to Goal Management Feature Settings to configure some of the features in Goal Management. The Import actions will be discussed later in this training.

Create a role or edit an existing one for the administrator (e.g., System Admin or Administrators), and grant permissions in Admin CenterManage Permission Roles. Set administrator goal permissions under Administrator PermissionsManage Goals.

To expand performance goal visibility, you can assign a role in the goal plan template (Extended HR) and assign the corresponding role-based permission (Extended EH for Performance Goals). This permission can be assigned separately in Manage Goals for each goal plan template and allows designated HR users and talent administrators to view and edit an employee's performance goals with greater flexibility.

This screenshot shows the Manage Goals Administrator Permissions in Manage Goals.

Note

The permissions for the actions within the goal plan, like creating, deleting, or cascading goals, as well as those related to the visibility of the fields in the goal plan (Goal Name, Metric, Status), are configured in the goal plan template, which can only be performed in the back end by an SAP SuccessFactors implementation consultant.

Goal Management Feature Settings

In SAP’s long-term goal of empowering customers, various settings for SAP SuccessFactors have been added to the Admin Center. As a result, it is easier and faster for administrators who do not have access to the back end to turn features on and off without needing to request them through an SAP SuccessFactors implementation consultant.

In Goal Management Feature Settings, you can enable some global features as an administrator.

This screenshot includes the options on the 'Goal Management Feature Settings' page.

Note

Some feature settings indicated as Only for Legacy Goal Management are only supported in GMv12 but are not relevant/supported in the Latest Goal Management.

  • Enable Group Goals 2.0 and Enable target population for group goals: Team Goals offers a similar functionality; the main difference is with the goal owner accountability for the goal. In Team Goals, the goal is not assigned to the owner’s goal plan, unlike Group Goals 2.0. However, when creating the Team Goal, the owner can designate themselves as a member, making it a type of Group Goal.

  • Enable Delete Team Goals Share: In the Latest Goal Management, this is now controlled from Role-Based Permissions (RBP) with the user permission Delete Assigned Team Goals.

  • Enable Goal Management People Selector: This option allows administrators to revert to the older TGM People Selector because it can show Matrix Managers. In Latest Goal Management, the default list also includes Matrix Reports; we can search beyond.

Goal Management Feature Settings

SettingDescription
Disable TGM link in Quick CardsThis feature disables the link to the goal plans via quick cards. Quick Cards are the small Rolodex card icons shown next to each employee’s name in most name lists in the system. Disabling the link will disable the link to goal plans globally from the quick cards.
TGM/CDP Goal Transfer WizardThis setting enables Copy from Goal Plan on the Goal Creation options. Using this feature, copying a personal or a team goal from one plan to another in a few simple steps is possible. Employees can copy their own goals, and Managers can also copy goals on behalf of others by navigating to a user's goal plan and copying personal goals on their behalf.
Enable Goal Management Access PermissionThis option provides the ability to control access to the Goals tabs from the system's navigation via permissions.
Goal ImportThis option enables a feature that allows users to import goals and goal-related data into the system via batch.
Enable Team GoalsThis option enables the Team Goal feature and permissions to grant appropriate access.
Enable InitiativesThis option enables the Initiatives feature to create Initiative Groups and include departmental, corporate, or division-level initiatives that employees can associate with their personal goals.
Enable Goal Alignment ChartThis option enables the Goal Alignment Chart view for cascaded goals in goal plans.

There will be some permissions in Role-Based Permissions to update, like those related to Team Goals functionality. These will be reviewed later in this Unit.
