Setting up end user permissions in Goal Management

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to review the permissions required for Goal Management as an end user.

Goal Management Permissions for End Users

Permission to access the goal plan as an end user can be granted by navigating to Manage Permission Roles using Action Search. For end users to access goal plans, they must be given permission to access the goal plan templates, which must be active.

Note

Access to Goal Management can be restricted if an administrator turns on the option Enable Goal Management Access Permission in the Goal Management Feature Settings option, using Action Search.

If this is enabled, the Goal Management Access permission must be given to the end users to access the Goals main page, where they can find their goal plan or goal plans.

Create a role for user access (e.g., logging in, accessing People Profile) and grant Goal Plan Permissions for all users to access their goal plans (All or Others) and Goal Management Access, if applicable, under User PermissionsGoals.

This screenshot shows the User Permissions that can be enabled for Goals access.

Note

The permissions for the actions within the goal plan, like creating, deleting, or cascading goals, as well as those related to the visibility of the fields in the goal plan (Goal Name, Metric, Status), are configured in the goal plan template, which can only be performed in the back end by an SAP SuccessFactors implementation consultant.

Grant additional permissions for end users

Business Example

In this exercise, you will grant additional permissions to the end users based on the last features enabled in the previous exercise.

Steps

  1. Grant additional permissions for the Manager Role.

    1. Navigate to Manage Permission Roles using Action Search.

    2. Locate the Manager Role, and select Edit from the Actions section.

    3. Select Next to navigate to step 2. Add Permissions.

    4. On the User Permissions, scroll down to locate the Goals category and select it.

    5. Grant the following permissions on the Goals category:

      • Access Goal Alignment Chart.
      • Goal Plan Permissions. Select the All radio button.
    6. Select Next and Save to save all the changes in the permission role.

  2. Grant additional permissions for the Employee Self Service role.

    Note

There are already some basic access permissions on another role Employee Login and Basic Access. However, the Employee Self Service role has a different role assignment (employee on self). It will be used for permissions requiring a target population and ensuring employees can only access their own information.
    1. Continue from the previous step and navigate back to Manage Permission Roles. Select the option from the top section or type it in Action Search.

    2. Locate the Employee Self Service role from the list.

    3. Select the Edit option.

    4. Choose Next to continue to the step 2. Add Permissions.

    5. Grant the following permission on the Goals category: Goal Plan Permissions. Select the All radio button.

    6. Scroll down to the AI Access category. You can also type it in the Search for a permission box to locate it.

    7. Select the following permissions:

      • Assisted Performance Goals
      • Assisted Writing with Text Analyzer
    8. Choose Next to navigate to the next step 3. Preview.

    9. Select Save to save your changes.

    10. Log out and log back in to reflect your permission updates.
