Using Team Goals in Goal Management

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to use Team Goals in Goal Management.

Team Goals Management

To create a new Team Goal, choose the Manage Team Goals button in your Goal Plan.

Within the Manage Team Goals page, you can use the Assign Goal button to assign already created team goals to team members. By selecting the Create Goal button, a new team goal can be created, or source team goals can be copied from the user's goal plans to create new team goals. You can select the Create Now link to open the Goal Creation Options page for Manage Team Goals.

From the Goal Creation Options page, there are different methods that can be used to create team goals.

  • Generate: There is a text field where an end user can input what they want to achieve and use Generative AI to create a new goal. This option is only available if:
    • Assisted Performance Goals is enabled in AI Services Administration.
    • The user has Assisted Performance Goals permission granted in User PermissionsAI Access.
    • The user has Manage Team Goals and Create Team Goals permissions granted in User PermissionsGoals.
  • Create from Scratch: This option will allow end users to create a goal with blank goal form. AI is also present to assist (if AI capabilities are enabled).
  • Copy from Goal Plan: This option will allow a user to select Team Goals from previous goal plan templates to copy to the current goal plan.
This screenshot shows the 'Goal Creation Options' on Manage Team Goals, including writing goals with AI, Create from Scratch, and Copy from Goal Plan.

The Create Team Goal menu will allow users to add details about their goals, just like personal goals. However, there is no option to change the Visibility; it will appear greyed out since the Team Goals will always have Public visibility and cannot be set to Private like the personal goals.

This screenshot shows the 'Create Team Goal' screen.

The next step will be to select Assign Team Goal to assign the goal to other employees (assignees). These might be the manager’s direct reports or other employees beyond the hierarchy (depending on the role’s target population in RBP).

From My Team: This tab will display the direct reporting hierarchy of the Team Goal owner.

Via Search: This tab will allow Advanced Search to locate other possible assignees. You can use Department, Job Code, or Division, among other search options available.

This screenshot shows the Select Assignees step to assign a team goal.

In the second step (optional), the goal can be edited before it is assigned.

Finally, the goal is created and assigned. Further actions (depending on the permissions assigned to the role) will be available:

  • Edit Goal
  • Delete Goal
  • Assign/Unassign Goal: Additional assignees can be added or removed.
  • Share Ownership: The Team Goal can be shared/unshared with other managers who would be co-owners of the goal. Depending on the permissions, co-owners might also be able to delete the goal.
