Using AI Features in SAP SuccessFactors Learning

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to use AI-Assisted features in SAP SuccessFactors Learning to enhance text quality, generate visuals, and infer relevant skills for learning assets.

AI-Assisted Writing

The AI-assisted writing tool acts as an interactive assistant powered by Generative AI, to help administrators enhance the quality of their writing. This tool can be used to improve title and description fields when creating various learning assets.

Administrators with the appropriate permissions can access the AI-assisted writing tool directly within the text fields while creating or editing content. For example, when editing an item’s title, the AI-assisted writing menu provides several options to assist.

Key Features:

  • Enhance Writing: Suggests improvements in grammar, spelling, vocabulary choices and phrasing within the context of your selected text.
  • Change Tone: Adapts messaging for specific audiences by offering options to select a tone (e.g., professional, personable, or constructive).
  • Make Shorter/Longer: Condense or expand a selected passage to convey information concisely or provide more detailed explanations.
  • Make Bulleted List: Transform paragraphs into clear, easy-to-read bullet points, simplifying complex information.
  • Analyze Text: Performs a safety scan for bias, discriminatory, or harmful language, and suggests alternative phrasing.
  • Translate: Translates text into one of 46 supported languages in SAP SuccessFactors, with full translation capabilities for key languages such as English (US), German, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese (Simplified), and Japanese.

AI-Assisted Image Generation

The AI-Assisted Image Generation tool enables administrators to create images directly within Learning Administration. This interactive tool uses Generative AI to produce relevant visuals.

When creating or editing custom cards, banners, or learning assets like items, programs, and curricula, administrators will find the Generate Image option. Enter descriptive text, and AI generates an image that can be applied to enhance the learning content.

AI-Assisted Skills Inference

The AI-assisted skills inference functionality enables administrators to infer both skill names and detailed descriptions directly into the Attributes Library. Administrators can review the inferred skills and their descriptions, validate the information, and confirm them for use within the organization.

Skills Ratings

AI-assisted skills inference includes functionality for inferring skill ratings. Using generative AI, ratings are extracted based on the titles and descriptions of learning items and programs. These ratings are aligned with proficiency levels defined in the Attributes Library.

The skill ratings, along with the inferred skills, are presented on the Assisted Skills Inference page, where administrators can review and associate them with specific items and programs. Once associated, skills and ratings appear in the Attributes section of the corresponding Items and Programs pages.

Note

Maintain clear and well-defined titles and descriptions for your items and programs to ensure accurate inference results.

How to Create Skills Inference Requests

Administrators with the appropriate permissions can navigate to Assisted Skills Inference in Learning Administration and choose to create a request for Items or Programs. Once initiated, the inference process begins, and the Inference Status changes to In Progress. This process can take up to an hour depending on data volume. Upon completion, the status will update to Completed. Note that these requests are retained for up to six months and cannot be manually deleted.

A request can be in one of the following statuses:

  • Not Ready: Inference is still pending for all entries.
  • Ready for Review: At least one learning entry’s inference is complete and ready for your review
  • In Review: At least one learning entry within the request has been opened for review.
  • Reviewed: All learning entries within the request have been reviewed and their inferred skills and ratings associated. This action cannot be reverted.
  • Not Applicable: No skills were inferred, perhaps due to unclear titles/descriptions or a failed inference process.
  • Deleted: Indicates that the inference for a learning entry failed.

Steps

  1. Navigate to Assisted Skills Inference in Learning Administration.

  2. Choose Create Request.

  3. Select whether you are inferring skills for Items or Programs.

  4. Enter a unique Request Name.

  5. Choose Add to include the specific learning entries (up to 500 per request) for which you want to infer skills, utilizing the search selector and filters.

  6. Select the entries and choose Add.

  7. Finally, choose Save and Infer.

Result

A completed skill inference request is displayed with a completed inference status.

How to Review and Associate Inferred Skills and Ratings

After creating a skills inference request, the next vital step is to review the AI’s suggestions and associate them with your learning content. This process ensures accuracy and alignment with organizational needs.

Steps

  1. Go to Assisted Skills Inference in Learning Administration.

  2. Choose a request that shows a Ready for Review status. This opens the Inference Details page, showing completion and failure metrics.

  3. In the table of entries, select one that is "Ready for Review." This will take you to the skills review page, showing inferred skills and other metadata.

  4. Choose Edit in the Inferred Skills section.

  5. Review the AI-inferred skills, their descriptions, and the associated ratings.

  6. Disable the Skills Association toggle to exclude a skill.

  7. Review and adjust the ratings dropdown as needed. Be aware that if assisted skills rating for inferred skills isn’t enabled or if titles/descriptions are unclear, ratings may appear blank.

  8. If you need to include a skill not inferred by AI, go to the Manually Added Skills tab, choose Add, search for and select attributes (up to 20), and then assign a rating.

  9. Choose Finish and OK. The skills and ratings are associated, and the learning entry’s status changes to Reviewed. Remember, this action cannot be reverted from this page.

Result

Upon completion, the associated skills and ratings will appear in the Attributes section of the relevant items and programs pages.
