Describing the Analytics Options for Different SuccessFactors Modules

Objectives

After completing this lesson, you will be able to:
  • Describe an overview of SAP SuccessFactors HCM.
  • Describe analytics options available for: Recruiting, Employee Central, Onboarding, Learning, Compensation.

Overview

SAP SuccessFactors Human Capital Management (HCM) suite provides analytics for all modules. As part of implementing SAP SuccessFactors modules, you are responsible for setting up and granting access reporting options for the module within SAP SuccessFactors.

In this section, we provide a sample of the analytics options available for these SAP SuccessFactors modules:

  • Recruiting
  • Employee Central
  • Learning
  • Compensation

SAP SuccessFactors Recruiting Reporting

SAP SuccessFactors provides multiple reporting tools for SAP SuccessFactors Recruiting. These reports give users an idea of how long it takes to fill a position, candidate progress, where the best candidates are found, and the cost per hire. Most reporting requirements will be met using standard report templates:

  • Cost per Hire
  • Current Employee Pipeline
  • Hired Candidates
  • OFCC Applicant Flow Status
  • Requisition Report
  • Requisition Status Report
  • Source Report
  • Time to Fill
  • Veterans Report

SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central Reporting

SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central offers a powerful reporting tool to help organizations track important analytics like employee movement, pay trends, and terminated employees. Organizations can take advantage of both standard reports and customizable reports. Reports are available in several popular formats like CSV, Excel, PDF, or PPT and can be exported. To understand the linkage between workforce and business results, your organization can also correlate employee and talent data with data from other enterprise systems like CRM, Financials, and ERP via SAP SuccessFactors Workforce Analytics (WFA).

This screenshot shows an example of consolidated data in a WFA report.

SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central Standard Report Templates

SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central helps business leaders and HR personnel grow the enterprise through an in-depth view of human capital metrics and the overall health of the organization. Pre-created templates allow organizations to quickly deploy reports to address critical human capital requirements and questions that impact business results.

SAP SuccessFactors Learning (LMS) Reporting

The LMS enables administrators to run various reports on many aspects of training. In addition, an organization can create reports and queries, which can be added to and run from the Report Designer Tool via the Reports menu.

There are over 90 SAP SuccessFactors standard reports, depending upon licensed modules. Each report offers various options for selecting, grouping, and sorting your output. Output types include CSV, HTML, and PDF formats. Reports may be run in a browser view mode or downloaded locally. Reports may also be scheduled to run on a recurring basis and configured to send an email copy of the report to one recipient. Aside from these report configurations, standard reports cannot be configured to contain additional fields and data.

LMS Reports Dashboard

Administrators use a searchable dashboard to locate, schedule, run, and possibly import/export reports. The dashboard allows for filtering by Category, Publication Status (unpublished reports are accessible only to the admin who imported the report), and admin/user reports. (User reports can be imported/exported if created in SAP SuccessFactors Learning Report Designer but not run from the admin side of SAP SuccessFactors Learning).

The search queries the report description field, making it easy to locate a report containing certain data types. Saved Reports and Scheduled Report Jobs are also accessible to the admin via the dashboard.

LMS Custom Reports Using SAP SuccessFactors Learning Report Designer

SAP SuccessFactors allows you to create custom LMS reports using SAP SuccessFactors Learning Report Designer (Powered by BIRT), a free application not built into the SAP SuccessFactors Administration interface. Administrators with the appropriate permissions may export reports to customize them in SAP SuccessFactors Learning Report Designer and re-import them.

Reports may also be built ‘from scratch’ using SAP SuccessFactors Learning Report Designer and imported into SAP SuccessFactors Learning. Reports are all available in the Reports Dashboard depending on domain access (Standard and Custom reports are all located in the same searchable menu). When new reports are imported into SAP SuccessFactors Learning, permissions for administrators are automatically created so access to that specific report can be completely controlled through admin roles.

SAP SuccessFactors Compensation Reporting

Compensation reports are readily available to provide summarized information on various data.

Compensation reports include:

  • Rollup Report
  • Compensation Aggregate Export
  • Live Metrics
  • Executive Review
  • Custom Reports
  • Compensation Statements

Custom Reports

Custom Reports: Beyond the standard reports available in the system, there is the possibility of creating custom reports that address specific questions or data needs in very precise ways. The most common examples are:

  • Pixel Perfect Talent Cards – used to present information about employees in a specific, uniform way to facilitate understanding of development and succession planning issues. The idea is to have a one or two-page attractive presentation of the employee’s photo, background, career trajectory, career desires, strengths, development needs, and nominations for future roles. These are often used in the context of talent reviews or career discussions. Sometimes, when top executives travel to different sites within the company, they produce these to understand whom they will meet.
  • Compensation statements – although some "standard" compensation statements can be adapted within the system, some customers prefer to use a very different format, possibly embedding sophisticated logic (like, "don’t show this possible section of the statement unless the employee is receiving the kind of benefit/compensation described by this section"). These statements are written in XSL language. They can be used in various ways, such as informing the employee of their possible compensation related to incentive plans or bonus plans. They can be produced in the employee’s selected language, or they can be produced in two languages in the same document (often the Canadian approach).
  • Custom BIRT reports – This can include things like aggregations of compensation data, presentations of data in a performance-potential 9-grid, a chart of some key elements from the Performance Review forms accompanied by a list of the data behind the report, or just charts and graphics.
