Describing Goal Management

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to provide an overview of SAP SuccessFactors Goal Management.

Introduction

This section provides a basic overview of Goal Management and provides you with information regarding the configuration decisions you will make during implementation.

As an integrated part of the SAP SuccessFactors HCM suite of solutions, Goal Management drives your company's success by helping you better align the efforts of your entire workforce while improving employee accountability.

Currently, there are two UI versions of Goal Management: GMv12 (Legacy Goals) and Latest Goal Management. This course is entirely based on the Latest version of Goal Management.

Note

In the 1H 2025 Release, those customers still on Legacy GMv12 were upgraded automatically to the Latest version of Goal Management, except for some customers that meet certain requirements. The Legacy GMv12 deletion date is planned for December 31, 2026. More information is available here (authentication required):

More information about the scope of the latest version can be found in the Implementation Guide in the section Working with the Latest Goal Management.

Goal Management Feature Settings

Customers must first work with a consultant to determine which Goal Management features to use.

Companies may choose initially to roll out a subset of all available Goal Management features and expand the feature set over successive goal plan cycles.

Features are enabled in Admin CenterGoal Management Feature Settings, as shown in the figure below.

The Manage My Goals link under Quick Actions will launch the user’s active goal plan.

The 'Manage My Goals' tile is highlighted on the Quick Actions section

Additionally, goals not completed yet that require immediate action as the due date is approaching (15 days or less) or goal is overdue will appear in the For You Today section as engagement cards, and employee can decide on taking the appropriate action.
