Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to explore the available AI capabilities applicable to Talent Intelligence Hub

AI Capabilities for Talent Intelligence Hub

The latest enhancements in SAP Business AI, embedded across the SAP portfolio, includes some exciting capabilities build for Talent Intelligence Hub around skill management. These capabilities can be classified into different areas:

  • Skill Inferencing. It is the process of running live data through a trained AI model to make a prediction or solve a task. In the context of Talent Intelligence Hub, it can generate Skill recommendations from activities in Continuous Performance Management or whenever a new assignment is created in Opportunity Marketplace.
  • Skill Extraction. AI capabilities can be used to extract data from Job Profiles and Job Requisitions and build an AI-based Skills library in Talent Intelligence Hub. Another application is to allow employees to upload a resume in the Growth Portfolio and extract skills from the details that can be added.
  • Skill Taxonomy. With the AI-Assisted Standardization, customers can benefit from industry-standard skill names to promote consistency and streamline naming conventions for skill names.

Note

An SAP AI Units license is a requirement to use any of these capabilities. Customers should contact their Account Executive for more information. An overview of the scope is available in the SAP Help Portal: Premium AI Features in SAP SuccessFactors. To check an estimation of the AI Features usage, costs and savings for an organization, based on parameters like Industry, Number of Employees, Revenue, etc, customers can access the following resource:

Any of these features can be enabled in the AI Services Administration page, by an administrator.

Overview of the specific AI features applicable to Talent Intelligence Hub

AI-Assisted Skills Architecture Creation

AI-Assisted Skills Architecture Creation

The AI-Assisted Skills Architecture Creation feature allows organizations to quickly set up skills libraries and map job roles to skills. This feature extracts skills from the description maintained in the job profiles and job requisitions (created from job profiles in Job Profile Builder) and sends the skills to the Attributes Library in Talent Intelligence Hub.

As a first step, administrators can turn on this capability in AI Services Administration, where two settings are available:

  • Assisted Skills Architecture Creation
  • Allow Skills Extraction from Job Profiles and Requisitions
The Talent Intelligence Hub section shows the AI features that can be enabled. The skills architecture settings are highlighted.

Once these options are enabled, the AI-Assisted Skills Architecture Creation can be enabled in Upgrade Center, under Optional Upgrades. Select Learn More & Upgrade Now to upgrade. The system will then initiate a TIH-SkillExtractionJob in Scheduled Job Manager and infer skills into Manage Talent Intelligence Hub, where administrators can review the new skills.

AI-Assisted Skills Architecture Creation Upgrade being selected and then showing how this creates a job in Scheduled Job Manager
An Attributes table with the Created Type column highlighted and all of the entries showing INFERRED

Once the inferred skills are reviewed and decided which ones to make available as Confirmed, a job to Update Inferred Skills to Confirmed can be submitted in Scheduled Job Manager. Once the skills update their Created Type to CONFIRMED, other SAP SuccessFactors modules can use the attribute picker to consume the skills.

Caution

The TIH-SkillsExtractorJob should be completed successfully, otherwise the job will ignore the inferred skills from Recruiting and Job Profile Builder, which were extracted from the AI-Assisted Skills Architecture Creation upgrade.

AI-Assisted Skill Recommendations from Continuous Performance Management Data

AI-Assisted Skill Recommendations from Continuous Performance Management Data

Talent Intelligence Hub uses generative AI capabilities to provide tailored skill recommendations in the Growth Portfolio of employees, based on their activities in Continuous Performance Management.

The skill inferencing system works as a connector between the source system (like SAP SuccessFactors Continuous Performance Management) and Talent Intelligence Hub. The skill inferencing system analyzes the employee's interactions in the source system (inputs provided by the users in the Achievements, Activities or Feedback sections in Continuous Performance Management) and then identifies the skills relevant to the employee's interests. The system then sends the inferred skills data to Talent Intelligence Hub to check if there's an exact match for the skill in the Attributes Library. If a match is found, the skill is displayed as a Recommended Skill in the employee’s Growth Portfolio.

Hint

Skill descriptions can be also inferred in addition of the Skill names

For those skills not available in the Attributes library, will show up in Manage Talent Intelligence Hub as Created Type INFERRED, and administrators can run a Scheduled Job to update these to CONFIRMED, if applicable.

Recommended for You section is highlighted. Talent Intelligence Hub utilizes AI to infer and recommend skills in employees' Growth Portfolios.

Hint

More additional information about this AI capability is available in the following learning journey, which covers Continuous Performance Management in full detail: Configuring SAP SuccessFactors Performance and Goals

AI-Assisted Skill Recommendation for Opportunity Marketplace Assignments

For customers that have enabled Talent Intelligence Hub and Growth Portfolio, assignment owners or co-owners can get AI-assisted skill recommendations during assignment creation or edit when Assisted Skill Recommendation for Opportunity Marketplace Assignments is enabled. The AI-assisted attribute recommendation only applies to skills. Assignment owners or co-owners need to manually add other types of attributes if needed.

In this example, two skills are recommended based on the details of the assignment.

AI-Assisted Skills Standardization

AI-assisted skills standardization provides industry-standard skill names to promote consistency and streamline naming conventions for skill names. By using standard names, you can reduce complexity by removing duplicates and similar skill names.

Administrators can run the TIH Skills Standardization job in Scheduled Job Manager, to generate a list of proposed names for skills. The job reviews all the skills in the Attributes Library and verifies whether a matching name for the skill exists in the SAP SuccessFactors universal Skills Taxonomy.

The step-by-step process would be as follows:

  1. The feature is enabled in AI Services AdministrationAssisted Skills Standardization
  2. Navigate to Scheduled Job ManagerJob SchedulerCreate New Job.
  3. Select the job type TIH Skills Standardization.
  4. Submit and run. Once the job is completed, select View Details.
  5. Select Download StatusOnce the job is completed, the View Details link allows to access the download status to export the files with the proposed names.
  6. The job creates an export file with the proposals for the standard name for skills. If the standard name for a skill doesn't exist in the SAP SuccessFactors universal skills taxonomy, the skill is considered as a custom skill. The SkillStandardizationResponse will include two CSV files:
    • SkillStandardizationExport.csv Includes the Proposed Names for Skills in the default language (en_US).
    • SkillTextStandardizationExport.csv. Includes the Proposed Names for Skills in the different locales.
Example of the two CSV files exported from the TIH Skills Standardization Job
  7. The administrator would review these suggestions and determine which proposed names should be applied from the Skills Taxonomy or which Skills should not be modified and keep their current names.
  8. In Manage Talent Intelligence Hub, the Skills will now have two additional fields on their details: Standardization Status and Proposed Name, which are non editable in the UI. Multiple skills may be mapped to the same Proposed Name/The details of the Skill show the standardization status and the Proposed Name
  9. To update the attributes with the Proposed Skill names, the administrator will need to create a new integration in Integration Center, using the Skill Standardization Import ICD file available here: https://api.sap.com/package/SuccessFactorsTalentIntelligenceHubAdminImportTemplates/icd

The sample file should have the following columns:

    • external ID - External ID of the Skill in attribute library
    • customLabel - Supported values for Standardization. The accepted values are:
      • S - Standardize the name to the name from SuccessFactors skills taxonomy. This will overwrite your existing Skill name and will have a mapping to the name from SuccessFactors skills taxonomy.
      • C - Standardize with your custom name to the name from SuccessFactors skills taxonomy. This will retain your existing name but will have a mapping to the name from SuccessFactors skills taxonomy.
      • U - Unstandardize the previously Standardized names. This will remove the mapping to the name from SuccessFactors skills taxonomy.

AI-Assisted Skill Identification from Resume

Employees can upload their resume on the Growth Portfolio, using an Add from Resume button available. When uploading a resume with this option, the AI-Assisted capabilities analyze the content of the resume and identifies skills from it by leveraging the SAP SuccessFactors universal skills taxonomy data.

The skills identified from the resume are compared to check if a match for the skill exists in the Attributes Library. If a skill identified from the resume exists in the Attributes Library, the skill is displayed on the Growth Portfolio. Skills that are identified from the resume but don't exist in the Attributes Library aren't displayed in the Growth Portfolio.

The prerequisites to use this feature are the following:

  • Enable AI Services AdministrationAssisted Skills Identification from Resume
  • Users need the following permission in RBP: User PermissionsGrowth PortfolioUpload Resume
  • The skills should be first standardized in the Attributes Library, using the AI-Assisted Skill Standardization.
  • This AI capability is only supported for Skills, no other attribute type.
  • The supported file types can be .doc, .docx, .pdf or .txt
  • The file size limit for the resume is 3MB.
  • Once skills are identified from the resume, the file will be deleted from the system.
The option add from resume allows to upload a file to identify skills and include them as recommendations in the Growth Portfolio

Employees can review the skills and choose whether they want to add those skills to their Growth Portfolio.

From the results, the employee can select those skills relevant to them and add them into their Growth Portfolio.
