Enabling the Reimagined Candidate Experience for Career Site Builder

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to create an adaptive application experience for candidates.

Reimagined Candidate Experience Overview

When Career Site Builder is enabled, the Reimagined Candidate Experience can be enabled, creating a guided application experience for candidates using a smoother and more intuitive application process. With its adaptive design, the application interface automatically adjusts based on the information required from the candidate, providing only the most relevant information in the quickest possible time.

Reimagined Candidate Experience - Apply Experience

Key Functionalities

  • Adaptive application process – The system presents either a wizard-based or form-based application template based on the Job Application Template configuration. If there are more than two sections in the template, the wizard-based application is used.
  • Resume Parsing and Pre-fill – Candidates can upload a resume to extract relevant information and pre-fill sections of the application. Alternatively, they can manually enter or edit their details.
  • AI-Assisted Skill Suggestions – The system analyzes the resume to extract skills and leverages AI to suggest relevant skills based on the job description. Candidates can review, select, or modify these suggestions as needed.
  • Job Description Access – The View Job Description button allows candidates to check the job details they're applying for at any stage of the application.
  • Flexible Navigation – Candidates can navigate back to and edit any section of the application wizard at any time during the application process.
  • Review and Submission – Once all the required information is filled in, candidates are taken to a review page where they can verify all details before submission.
  • Post-Submission Actions – After submission, candidates can withdraw their application using the Withdraw Application button. If withdrawn, they can reapply for the same job using the Re-Apply button, provided the job is still active.

Prerequisites

  • You have the Enable Candidate Account Simplification setting in Provisioning.
  • DPCS 2.0 is enabled in your environment.
  • Career Site Builder must be enabled and configured.
  • Mobile Apply is enabled.

Verify that the Sign-In Widget and Locale Selector options are enabled on your career site:

In Career Site Builder, go to AppearanceStylesHeadersselect Locale and Brand.

For both Desktop Layout and Mobile Layout, ensure that the Sign-In and Language component is added and that the Use Sign In Widget and Use Locale Selector settings are enabled in both layouts.

To enable Reimagined Candidate Experience

  1. Go to Admin Center → Manage Recruiting Settings → Career Sites.
  2. Choose the Enable Candidate Experience for Career Site settings.
  3. Choose Save to save your changes.

Business Rules for Branching Questions

The Reimagined Candidate Experience also provides increased flexibility in the way that Candidate Profile and Application fields can be controlled by introducing new Recruiting business rules scenarios that can be used to create branching questions. Branching questions allow application fields to become dynamic, appearing only to the candidate when additional information is required, based on their previous responses to application questions. This allows greater flexibility in creating a more dynamic application experience for candidates, displaying only the application questions relevant to them.

For example, let’s take an example of an application question that is commonly collected: Do you have any relatives employed by our organization? If yes, what is the relationship? If yes, within which department do they work?

Let’s say that in this scenario, this question is only relevant to external candidates applying for jobs in all countries. You would first configure the field definition in the application template, setting the public attribute to false, then create the necessary field attribute override so that this field only displays to external candidates in all countries.

Next, using the multi-stage application environment, you can decide at which point within the Talent Pipeline this field should be displayed. Is it when the candidate initially applies? Or do we want to collect this data later, after they’ve been interviewed?

Finally, when the Reimagined Application Experience is enabled, you can use Candidate Application business rules to further control the visibility of these fields to create a branching question. This would hide the follow-up questions (If yes, what is the relationship? If yes, within which department do they work?) and would show them only if the candidate answers yes to the question about having a relative employed by the organization.

Candidate Application using Branching Questions with the Reimagined Candidate Experience

In the new candidate application, the number of fields visible to the candidate at first is dramatically reduced since most of these questions are now branching questions (ex. if the candidate enters yes that they are a veteran, then the second question, are you a disabled veteran will appear).

Overview of Application Business Rule Scenario

With the new application experience, new business rules, along with a new category of scenarios for Recruiting rules are available.

Job Application Business RulesCandidate Application Business Rules

Job application business rules are the pre-existing application rules that can be configured to auto-populate recruiter-facing fields, move candidate applications through the Talent Pipeline, etc.

When using Mobile Apply, job application business rules on candidate-facing fields will not trigger.

Candidate application business rules are the rules that can be configured to support the new candidate application experience.

These rules can be used to control what fields are visible to the candidate upon applying, creating the ability to configure "branching" questions.

Configure View Rules on Candidate Application

The Recruiting business rule scenario, Configure View Rules on Candidate Application, allow you to control which Candidate Profile or Application fields should be visible, editable, or hidden upon a candidate’s initiation of an application.

This allows a more flexible configuration of Application or Candidate Profile fields, giving customers more control over which fields should be presented to the candidate upon applying.

For Example:

  • If the candidate resides in a country where certain application questions cannot be collected, a business rule can hide fields based on the candidate’s country.
  • If creating branching questions, a business rule can be used to initially hide the follow-up or secondary branching questions.

Configure Field Changes Rules on Candidate

The Recruiting business rule scenario, Configure Field Change Rules on Candidate Application, allows you to trigger a change to an application field based on a candidate’s response.

Using this business rule scenario, you can easily create branching questions by changing the visibility of fields or populating other fields based on the candidate’s response to an application question.

For example

  • If creating branching questions, a business rule can be used to make an application field visible to the candidate if the candidate answered a previous application that requires a follow-up question.

Configure Save Rules on Candidate Application

The Recruiting business rule scenario, Configure Save Rules on Candidate Application, allows you to modify application fields when a candidate saves their application.

  • Using this business rule scenario, you can populate application fields that are left blank by the candidate in the case that the customer wants a default response entered for reporting purposes (ex. "Not Applicable").

Summary

  • Enabling the Reimagined Candidate Experience (with Career Site Builder) creates a smoother, guided, adaptive application that shows only the most relevant fields and supports both wizard- and form-based flows (wizard is used when the application template has more than two sections).
  • Candidate-facing features: Resume upload for parsing and pre-fill, AI-assisted skill suggestions based on resume + job description, easy access to the job description throughout, flexible navigation to revisit sections, a final review step before submission, and post-submission actions (withdraw and re-apply if the job is still active).
  • Dynamic/branching questions via business rules: New Recruiting business rule scenarios allow you to control field visibility/editability and create branching questions (show follow-ups only when needed): Configure View Rules (initial visibility), Configure Field Change Rules (change visibility/populate fields based on responses), and Configure Save Rules (set defaults like "Not Applicable" on save).
