Updating the Home Pages

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to update home pages for each active locale and brand.

Home Page Setup

You can configure home pages for each active locale and brand. Begin by configuring the Default Brand.

  • To add components to the home page, select the Add Component button.
  • Use the up and down buttons to control the component's location on the page.
  • If you do not want the component to display on all devices (desktop, tablet, mobile), clear the checkbox for that device.
  • Click the component itself to adjust the style, appearance, and content.
  • See additional information about working with page components provided earlier in this training.

Add a Component to the Home Page

Business Example

Best Run would like to add a carousel component to the home page that provides navigation to the existing content pages: Company and Benefits.

Steps

  1. Navigate to CSBPagesHomeEnglishDefault BrandHome.

  2. Click the Add Component button, and select Image Carousel. Click outside the Add Component box.

  3. Best Run wants this component to be located above the Video component, so scroll to the bottom of the page, and click the up arrow at the left side of the Image Carousel component to move it above the Video.

  4. Click on the Image Carousel component to edit it.

  5. On the Details page, for the Header Text, enter Get to Know Best Run.

  6. Click the T icon (Open Styling) to the right of the Header Text.

  7. Change the Size to 24, the Alignment to Center, and the Color to Best Run Blue. Click Close.

  8. Make the following selections on the Details page:

    1. Visible Images = 2

    2. Move Per Page = 1

    3. Space Between Images = 4px

    4. Height = 265px

    5. Display Interval = 1

    6. Auto Focus = NO

    7. Click Save Draft.

    8. Preview.

  9. Click on the Images tab.

    1. Click the Select Image button. The Image Selector dialog opens.

    2. At the top right, click Upload Image.

    3. Click the + button next to Select Image.

    4. Navigate to the images that were provided, select BestRun_wText.jpg and click Open.

    5. Click Add.

    6. At the top left of the Image Selector window, click the < arrow. The new image displays at the top of the list.

    7. Click Edit Alt Text for the new image.

    8. Click on Alt Text for the English Locale. Remember that adding alt text is a leading practice for accessibility purposes.

    9. Enter Woman with winners cup, for English and click Save.

    10. At the top of the window, click the < arrow.

    11. Click Select for the image.

    12. The Image Type and Image Position settings do not need to be changed.

    13. Change Is Link to YES. We will link this image to the corresponding Company page for the default brand.

    14. Click the Edit Link button. The Link Setup dialog opens.

    15. For Type, select Content.

    16. In the Content Link section at the bottom, select Company - English - Default Brand from the dropdown.

    17. In the Title box, enter About our Company.

    18. In the Text box, enter Company.

    19. Click Ok.

    20. From the top of the page, click Save Draft andPreview.

    21. Scroll down to the new component and click on the image. The Content page displays with Best Run is a great place to work!

  10. On the Image Carousel page in Career Site Builder, click +Add from the top right of the page and then scroll down to add the second image.

    1. Follow the same steps to add the second image: Benefits_wText.jpg.

    2. For the Alt Text, enter Baby.

    3. Link to the Benefits - English - Default Brand page and enter About our Benefits in Title Box.

    4. When you publish and preview and click on the new image, you will be linked to the Content page with Best Run has the best benefits in the business!

    Note

    The carousel component was added only to the home page of the English language Default Brand. These steps would need to be repeated for other locales and brands. We will not do that in this exercise.
