Configuring Icons in the Admin Center

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to configure Matrix Grid Report Icons.

Configure the Matrix Grid Report Icons

To provide users with a quick, visual reference for employee attributes in the Matrix Grid Reports, you can add icons to represent certain field values. For example, you may want to indicate each employee's risk of loss as low, medium, or high by assigning a specific icon to represent each of those values for that field.

When the icons are changed for the Matrix Grid Reports, the same icon sets are used for both Performance-Potential and How vs. What reports.

Note

The icon settings that you make for the Matrix Grid Reports do not affect the icons used in the Succession Org Chart. However, the icons available to choose from are the same.

For a consistent user experience, consider updating the icons for both the Matrix Grid Reports and the Succession Org Chart so they match. If you've designed your Succession Planning talent card to use any of the same fields as your Matrix Grid Reports, then the icon settings you make for the Matrix Grid Reports are also reflected on the talent card.

To configure Matrix Grid Report Icons:

  1. To navigate to Matrix grid report icon configuration, use Action Search.

    The fields and icons currently being used in the Matrix Grid Reports display.

  2. Choose Add A New Field to select the field you wish to include in the reports. Up to eight icon sets can be included, but for best usability four or fewer icon sets are recommended.Add a Matrix Grid Field.
  3. Select the field name. The Edit Field screen opens.
  4. Change the label shown for the icon if desired.Add a Matrix Grid Icon.
  5. Select Change to choose an icon.
  6. Select the icon for the field value. Some fields may have multiple values to choose icons for. Some fields may just have one value.
    1. The icon selection is the same as the SOC, found in the Succession Implementation Guide. SAP Fiori icons start on page 10.
  7. Choose OK to select the icon.
  8. Choose Save Changes.
Configure Matrix Grid Report Icons.

Once icons have been added to the Matrix Grid Reports, they can be changed at any time. To change Matrix Grid Report Icons:

  1. To navigate to Matrix grid report icon configuration, use Action Search.
  2. Select Take Action for the field you wish to change the icons.
  3. The following options are available from the Take Action menu:
    1. Edit: Edit the icon or field name.
    2. Delete: Delete the field and icon.
    3. Move Up: Move the field up in the list.
    4. Move Down: Move the field down the list.
  4. Choose Save Changes once the edits are complete.

Note

Changes to the matrix grid icons made in Admin Center are updated in Provisioning Matrix Classifier XML.

Configure the Matrix Grid Report Icons

Business Example

Your customer wants to update the icons on the Performance-Potential Matrix Grid report. Updating icons in the Matrix Grid using the Admin Center and changing the order of the fields in the Matrix Grid are some of the tasks that you must perform. Use Admin Center to perform these configurations.

Steps

  1. Add the Gender Icons.

    1. Connect to your instance as smadmin.

    2. To navigate to Matrix grid report icon configuration, use Action Search.

    3. For the Gender field, choose Take Action and then Edit.

    4. Locate the label Male and choose Change.

    5. Search for and select the Male icon.

    6. Choose OK.

    7. Repeat steps d through f to change the icon for Female.

  2. Change the icons for the rest of the fields.

    1. Choose Add New Field to add fields.

    2. Using the same process as in the first step to modify the gender icons, change the icons according to the following requirements:

    A list of the Field Icons.

  3. Reorder the fields.

    1. Choose the Take Action dropdown menu and choose the Move Up/Move Down arrows to move Gender and Minority to the bottom of the list.

    2. Choose Save Changes.

  4. Check your results.

    1. Verify that your matrix grid report icon configuration screen ultimately looks like the one in the following screenshot.

    2. Navigate to the Performance-Potential matrix and choose the eye icon for Display Options. Verify that the icons match the configuration in the Matrix Grid Report icon configuration screen.
