Configuring Talent Search Settings

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to explain how to enable the settings available for Talent Search.

Talent Search Settings

Talent Search administrators can set options like keyword search and rating scale configuration using the Talent Search Settings, making them available for all users.

To change the options, navigate to Talent Search Settings using Action Search.

Use the Talent Search Settings page to configure talent search related settings.

Settings that can be enabled include:

  • Enable keyword search in Talent Search: Turns on the keyword search for the instance.
  • Show Attributes: Activates a search on attributes (skills/competencies/behaviors) from Talent Intelligence Hub.
  • Rating Configurations section: Choose rating scales to be used in the search.
  • Default Search Fields: Select fields that will be available by default with new Talent Search sessions.

With the appropriate talent search and default field settings, the user view is more useful and intentional. This allows the system administrator to designate the most used fields.

Show Attributes

If enabled, users are able to search by attributes from Talent Intelligence Hub in the Ratings and Attributes section of the Talent Search. For customers whose users are confused by this, or if they have many attributes (which can cause the search page to take a long time to load), admins can disable this feature.

Enable Capability Picker

Users can use the new competency picker to add competencies in Talent Search. They can select competencies by competency libraries and search for competencies using keywords.

As a prerequisite for this feature, Job Profile Builder must be enabled and the data migration to Job Profile Builder completed successfully.

Rating Configurations

This option allows you to define the source of ratings to be used in Talent Search.

Choose Process: Options available here can be created or modified through the Processes and Forms tool in Admin Center. Choose All rating sources to pull ratings across Forms, Employee Profile (Import/Manual), Calibration sessions, and so on.

Search Talents based on their (All ratings or Latest Rating): Defines which system pulls in the search criteria; choose all of the employee's ratings or just the most recent rating.

Search Job Info based on (As Of Date or Date Range): Available for Employee Central users only.

Default rating scale for advanced search criteria (Advanced Information): A default rating scale is used to search all ratings. Rating scales that appear in this area are configured through the following tools:

  • Rating Scales (Admin CenterRating Scales)
  • Matrix Grid Rating Scales (Admin CenterMatrix Grid Rating Scales)

All Attributes: If you've migrated to Talent Intelligence Hub, there's no default rating scale selected for All Attributes. You must select a rating scale from the dropdown list. To add or edit a rating scale, navigate to Manage Talent Intelligence HubRating Scales.

To search using Custom Attributes, Show Attributes must be enabled and a rating scale selected under All Attributes. The Add dialog will show the 50 most recently created attribute types that each contain at least one attribute, allowing users to select specific attributes.

The Talent Search Settings remaining options are displayed.

Default Search Fields

If your system is configured with many available search fields, you may find it useful to recommend which fields to start with when using Talent Search. When you define default search fields, which apply to all users, the system validates the default fields against the searchable field permissions assigned to the logged-on user's role. Then, only the fields that meet both criteria are displayed. Users can add more search fields (based on their permissions) and save searches for future use.

System administrators can configure the default search fields from the Talent Search Settings screen.

Once a search is performed, users can return to the default field settings using the Start Over option.

The Talent Search Default Search Fields are displayed.

Hyperlink Configurations

The hyperlink allows an Admin to configure the "i" icon in the Talent Search page to route to a hyperlink or deep link within SAP SuccessFactors.

Lesson Summary

The key learning points of this lesson are:

  • Talent Search Settings Overview: System administrators can configure Talent Search options—such as enabling keyword search, showing competencies and behaviors, and selecting default search fields—via the Talent Search Settings page in Action Search to optimize user interactions and efficiency.
  • Key Features to Configure: Includes enabling the competency picker, rating configuration (for example, source and method of ratings), and default search fields. Admins can tailor Talent Search fields to be accessible based on user permissions and ensure actionable search results.
  • Advanced Options: Features like hyperlink configurations enable linking the Talent Search "i" icon to deep links within SAP SuccessFactors, enhancing navigation. Prerequisites like enabling Job Profile Builder and executing data migration may apply for some settings.
