Using People Profile Information Blocks

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to understand People Profile blocks and their purpose within succession.

Storage of Succession Module Data

Data used by the Succession Module is stored in the People Profile. To add or edit People Profile information, navigate to Configure People Profile using Action Search. The People Profile information blocks typically house data like personal information, talent review fields, trend ratings like performance or potential, and other data often reflected within the succession nomination tools.

Unique benefits of the People Profile for the Admin include:

  • Interfaces with and displays Employee Central information
  • Adds and edits goals on the People Profile
  • Saves a draft of new hire transaction in Employee Central
  • Generates HR documents
  • Shows leave of absence in the user interface

Latest People Profile

SAP SuccessFactors has released an updated People Profile referred to as the Latest People Profile. The latest People Profile provides a redesigned public view of an employee's profile, along with Full Profile, a revamped data hub that consolidates all kinds of data for an employee in one single place.

This Succession Management Administration course is currently using the Legacy People Profile until there is feature parity between the two Profiles.

Note

If you would like to activate additional personal, background, or custom fields in your data model when creating People Profile blocks with Configure People Profile, you need to contact Customer Success or a Professional Services partner.

Common People Profile Blocks Used in Succession Management

Below are some of the most common People Profile blocks used in Succession Management.

Note

If you have added talent data to the People Profile to track information such as the talent flags, do not upgrade to the Latest People Profile. Not all standard and trend elements are available in the Latest People Profile. Data such as the talent information block shown below can not be edited. If you've already upgraded to the Latest People Profile, you can turn it off under Company System and Logo Settings.

Talent Review (Talent Flag) Block

Talent flags enable the manager or succession planner to see the impact of loss, risk of loss, or reason for leaving, as shown in the figure below.

Succession Blocks

Within People Profile, there are unique summary blocks which may be configured in Admin Center similar to the ones below. The Successor Portlet identifies who has been nominated as a potential successor to the employee's position, and the Nomination Portlet lists any positions or talent pools to which the employee has been nominated.

Performance and Potential Blocks

Performance or Potential blocks are also referred to as trend data. Trend data is considered a specific background element in the succession data model which tracks the patterns over time and utilizes the matrix grid rating scales within the dropdown options of these blocks.

Additional blocks pertaining to succession may draw from personal information, competencies, objectives, or custom1 and custom 2. All of this varies based on your original system configuration. If you need more specific information, review your configuration guides or speak with the Professional Services partner who assisted you during implementation.
