Describing Succession Lineage Chart v12

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to describe Succession Lineage Chart v12 and its functionality.

Succession Lineage Chart v12

The Lineage Chart v12 allows you to examine overall succession coverage below a given incumbent or position. Lineage Chart helps analyze the likely effect before implementing a high-level succession plan.

Benefits of Lineage Chart v12

With the Lineage Chart v12, you can see as many levels of successors as you need. Like the Succession Org Chart, you can open the successors per node and open a user's Talent Card by choosing the Quick Card icon next to the user's name. If you have never used Talent Cards before, refer to the Talent Card section of the guide for further configuration guidance. The Succession Talent Card configuration applies to the Succession Org Chart and the Lineage Chart.

The Lineage Chart provides insight into the domino effect, which could occur if a high-level succession plan is implemented. Several permissions control the access and view of this tool. Most importantly, the Succession Org Chart permission controls access to this page if the Lineage Chart is enabled.

Based on the configuration of the Succession Talent Card within the Admin Center, nominations to positions or Talent Pools are possible with the proper permissions.

Other important information, like talent information or preferred next move, assists in determining the interests of the successors in downstream actions.
