Objectives

After completing this lesson, you will be able to:
  • Explain Talent Search v2.
  • Configure competencies and set up permissions.
  • Define the options to export.

Talent Search v2

Talent Search provides customers with a modern search experience to find the employees they're looking for, and offers the following advantages:

  • A modern User Interface
  • Faceted Filters and Expanded Actions
  • Support for Multi-Select Searches
  • Specialized Permission Section within Role-Based Permissions
  • More Powerful Comparison of People Profile
  • Ability to Include Inactive Users in Talent Search
  • Ability to add a hyperlink to a help page or customized company documentation.
This screenshot shows the Talent Search tab UI highlighting a custom hyperlink.

System administrators can configure default search fields that will automatically show as additional search criteria to all users. The system validates the default fields, defined by the administrator for all users, with the searchable fields assigned to the logged-on user’s role and only displays the fields that match both criteria. This setup makes it easier for occasional users of talent search.

The Search Options also includes the ability to run a search based on different permissioned roles, which can help administrators tune/validate search and role configurations.

This screenshot shows search setting options from Talent Search.

When searching for background elements, which can have multiple entries (like previous employers), up to six selections are possible for each background element. For example, in the screen below, two different majors have been selected for the formal education background element and more can be added.

This screenshot shows a background element example, Formal Education, with six different possible selections.

Talent Search Attributes

In Talent Search, with Talent Intelligence Hub the dialog for adding competencies or skills to your search criteria uses a drop-down menu to choose competency libraries.

The search options available depend upon which competency management option customers use. Legacy Families & Roles (also known as JDM) has fewer search options than Job Profile Builder (JPB). Documentation for Job Profile Builder can be found on the SAP Help Portal on the SAP SuccessFactors Platform page.

Talent Search v2 Permissions

Within the Admin Center, the system administrator can assign permission settings that control the fields viewed throughout the Talent Search v2 tool. The Talent Search Access permission can be given in Manage Permission Roles in the Succession Planners category. There is a distinct permission to export the talent search results.

This screenshot shows where in Admin Center, Manage Permission Roles that Talent Search Access Permission is assigned to a role.

There is also a specific permission area within Manage Permission Roles entitled Talent Search Field. This permission area allows different roles access to different fields for employee, personal, and background information, increasing flexibility and restricting sensitive data.

This screenshot shows where in Admin Center, Manage Permission Roles that Talent Search Field permission is assigned to a role.

Talent Search Export

There are two options to export Talent Search results:

  1. You can select specific employees and choose the Export link in the Toolbar.
  2. You can choose the Export All link next to the total number of results found.

The Export All function allows users to export all available matching results into the export file, regardless of where the user has scrolled in the results list.

When choosing the Export All link, a dialog pops up to specify the exported file name and select the fields to export. If there are more than 20 match results, a job will be triggered in the back end.

This screenshot shows the Export options from Talent Search.

Export functionality includes exporting fields under Basic Information, Advanced Information, and Rating & Competencies.

The ability to sort the various fields that contain this new information is also available.
