Describing SAP SuccessFactors Time Management

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to describe SAP SuccessFactors Time Management.

Introduction to Time Management in SAP SuccessFactors

SAP SuccessFactors Time Management is about tracking the times when employees are at work (attendance management) and when they aren’t (absence management).SAP SuccessFactors provides capabilities for recording absences, time off work, and attendances, that is, active working time. Absences are managed in Time Off, while attendances are managed in Time Sheet. Time Off and Time Sheet are part of SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central Time Management. SAP SuccessFactors Time Tracking extends the Employee Central attendance recording capabilities for more complex use cases and requires a separate subscription on top of Employee Central Time Management.

This diagram shows the relationship between Time Off, Time Sheet, and Time Tracking.

Time and Attendance in Employee Central

Employee Central offers a rich set of tools to manage absences and attendances.

The Time Off module provides a single platform for recording all types of paid and unpaid absences, including long- and short-term illnesses, PTO, maternity/paternity leave, etc. It is a flexible framework where you can configure absence management according to local laws, regulations, customers’ collective labor agreements, and other types of policies.

The Time Sheet functionality offers general/basic customer functionality to run their attendance management on the same platform. It allows tracking all attendances, allowances, and on-call duties in a single time sheet.

For some processes in Time Off, the Time Tracking functionality is required. An example of this is Time Off in Lieu. This allows employees to record working time, and the calculated overtime can flow into a dedicated balance, which employees can leverage to take time off.

The last component is the Time Administration Workbench. This functionality is delivered to support the time administrators. This is delivered within Employee Central to analyze recorded absences, time-account postings, creation of temporal work schedules, time forms views, etc.
