Setting Up Joule for SAP Integrated Product Development

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to activate Joule with SAP Integrated Product Development.

Joule can be integrated with SAP Integrated Product Development (SAP IPD) to provide conversational access to product‑development‑related information and application navigation. When enabled, Joule allows business users to interact with SAP IPD using natural language, helping them find documentation and navigate supported applications more efficiently.

Joule Integration with SAP Integrated Product Development

Joule integration with SAP Integrated Product Development enables conversational access to SAP IPD documentation hosted on the SAP Help Portal. This allows users to ask questions about SAP IPD applications and processes and receive summarized answers grounded in official SAP content.

Joule support in SAP IPD is focused on enabling guided access to product development information and selected application interactions, rather than replacing SAP IPD functionality.

Prerequisites

  • You have an entitlement for Joule in the same global account on SAP BTP, Cloud Foundry, as your entitlement for SAP Integrated Product Development.

  • Your identity provider uses the OpenID Connect protocol.
  • If you currently use a SAML protocol, see this information about migrating: Migrating from SAML to OpenID Connect Protocol.
  • Ensure that the EPD Admin role template is assigned to the user/admin working on the setup.
  • For more information, see Role Templates for Common Functions.
