Analyzing the Use Cases and Benefits of SAP Signavio Plug and Gain

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to evaluate the main use cases of SAP Signavio Plug and Gain for applicability to your organization.

Use Cases and Benefits

In this lesson, you’ll learn why plug and gain was developed and the use cases it addresses. You will also learn about the different personas who benefit from using it with SAP Signavio.

Use Cases and Benefits of SAP Signavio Plug and Gain

As you may recall from the last lesson, plug and gain is designed for SAP customers. It supports them by quickly transferring data from SAP Signavio Process Insights to SAP Signavio Process Intelligence, enabling in-depth analysis of process performance and execution.

This figure, as introduced in the video in the last lesson, illustrates how the plug and gain approach by SAP Signavio connects components of the SAP Signavio Transformation suite.

This figure illustrates how SAP Signavio integrates with various SAP systems like SAP ECC, SAP S/4HANA, and SAP Ariba to enhance value through Process Insights and Process Intelligence, leveraging Value Accelerators to optimize process management.

Refer to the last lesson to review the plug and gain approach.

Let's now understand WHY plug and gain was developed.

To solve complex SAP customer challenges!

Let's look at some of these challenges.

Complex SAP Customer Challenges

When you look at the powerful capabilities of the individual products within the SAP Signavio Process Transformation Suite (as depicted in the pin wheel figure from lesson 1), it may not be immediately clear why "plug and gain" was needed. Since these products already offer strong, standalone capabilities.

However, the need for "plug and gain" becomes clearer when you take a closer look at our customers' challenges.

The figure shows some of the customers' challenges.

This figure presents four major challenges faced by SAP customers: outdated ERP systems with custom developments, the complexity induced by mergers and acquisitions leading to fragmented systems, the high cost and setup time of process mining projects, and the difficulty of executing S/4HANA transformation projects.

Let's look at each of them in more detail:

  • Historically grown ERP systems with custom developments, obsolete configuration settings and data

Many of our customers have been using SAP for several years, resulting in systems that have grown extensively, often with significant custom (Z-) coding, complex configurations, and large volumes of data. For those looking to streamline and clean up their systems, SAP Signavio Process Insights can be a valuable tool. However, in this context, plug and gain offers even greater capabilities and flexibility.

  • Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) activities lead to distributed system landscape and low degree of process harmonization

When pursuing process harmonization initiatives — especially in a fragmented system landscape often resulting from multiple mergers and acquisitions — some of SAP Signavio’s metrics can provide valuable insights. However, if you want to accurately measure process effectiveness and analyze the different process variants in use, plug and gain’s Best Run Score metric is the ideal solution.

In summary, the integration of "plug and gain" alongside our SAP Signavio solutions allows us to better meet our clients' unique challenges while enhancing their operational efficiency.
