Welcome to the learning journey on plug and gain by SAP Signavio.
Here, you’ll get all the information you need to become an expert at using plug and gain — either as an admin or an end user. You’ll learn the theory behind plug and gain and see exactly how things work in the system through real demonstrations.
The upcoming lessons will cover the basic concepts of plug and gain by SAP Signavio — why it was developed, what its main components are, and how it can help your organization.
So let's get started.
What is the Plug and Gain Approach by SAP Signavio Solutions?
SAP Signavio is a cloud-based process management platform. It enables companies to understand, improve and transform all their business processes fast and at scale. This capability extends beyond SAP solutions to include non-SAP ones as well.
Plug and gain by SAP Signavio connects components of the SAP Signavio Transformation suite. Such components can be leveraged at the different stages of your transformation project.

As explained in the video, the first stage of the SAP Signavio Process Transformation project is the analysis stage, which you'll now explore in more detail through the Process Analysis and Mining solutions. You'll learn about the SAP Signavio Process Insights, which is the process analytics solution, and SAP Signavio Process Intelligence, which is the mining solution. Both solutions, along with the Value Accelerators, are extremely important for plug and gain, so let's get started.
SAP Signavio Process Insights
SAP Signavio Process Insights serves as a process analytics solution tailored for customers utilizing an SAP system. When connected to a SAP system, this solution analyzes and classifies all ERP processes based on their performance levels. Users can easily identify low-performing processes, drill down into each individual step, and conduct benchmarking to compare the performance of a process step with other company codes or even competitors in the industry. However, the capabilities of the SAP Signavio Process Insights extend beyond mere analysis and comparison. It also enables users to quantify the financial benefits of improving the performance of a specific process step. With just a few clicks, the SAP Signavio Process Insights offers corrective and innovative recommendations, providing clear guidance on how to enhance process performance.
SAP Signavio Process Intelligence
SAP Signavio Process Intelligence represents the mining solution within the SAP Signavio suite. This Process Mining capability allows users to track each process step executed by analyzing the digital footprint. It aggregates data from various systems, both SAP and non-SAP, resulting in a detailed visualization of how each process unfolds step by step. This visualization incorporates widgets and metrics to enhance understanding and monitoring of actual process performance.
Now, let's understand why these two solutions are important?
Because both SAP Signavio Process Insights and SAP Signavio Process Intelligence are integral components of plug and gain.
Plug and Gain Approach
Plug and gain cannot be seen as a component of the Pin Wheel (the SAP Signavio Process Transformation Suite) because it is not a product. Instead, plug and gain is an approach for connecting different components of the SAP Signavio Transformation Suite. More precisely, it involves connecting Process Insights with Process Intelligence.

Now that you have explored the plug and gain approach, let's look at some of the core deliverables of plug and gain. Each of these deliverables will be explained in more detail in the upcoming lessons that incorporate both theoretical background and live demonstrations to enhance your understanding.
Core Deliverables of Plug and Gain
The figure shows the core deliverables of Plug and Gain.

Process House: Central entry point to the plug and gain content
Whenever you are working with plug and gain, you are provided with the Process House as your central point of entry to understand the analysis content. The Process House is also a great starting point for customers that not yet have a process hierarchy set up.
Best-Run Score: Indicator showing the degree of effectiveness of the process
As deeper analysis is key for plug and gain, several metrics have been developed to help you better understand individual process performance. The Best Run Score is a metric showing the degree of effectiveness of a process. It calculates, how often manual process steps are taken or how close a process design is to the SAP recommendation.
Internal and External Benchmarking: Comparison of process performance between systems or companies
Process Execution Analysis: Analysis on process variants to uncover internal best practices
The Process execution analysis shows how processes are actually running with a "mining like" spaghetti diagram, and also which variants exist and how well they perform.
Transaction Analysis: Usage of both standard and custom transactions
Particularly for users who are planning to move to SAP S/4HANA, the transaction code analysis is super helpful: It shows the usage, performance and amount of users of standard and custom transaction codes.
Process-specific Analyses for Continuous Improvement and Transformation: Improvement opportunities along an end-to-end process
Depending on the use case, further transformation or improvement-focused deep dive analyses is provided.
