Benefits of SAP SuccessFactors Career Development Planning

SAP SuccessFactors Career Development Planning and Mentoring (CDP) enables employees to benefit from a wide range of career development and planning activities. CDP also provides managers with standardized methods to track the success of their direct reports.

Career Development Planning provides many important benefits, such as:

  • Focusing on engaging and retaining top talent by helping employees build career development plans and track their progress.
  • Allowing for personal growth as employees take on development activities that are relevant and actionable where the follow-through is recorded.
  • Empowering employees to plan their careers through identifying job roles that are of interest and researching the competencies and skills necessary to do those jobs well.

CDP also opens the door to full customization of the development plan and integrations with other SAP modules, such as SAP SuccessFactors Learning or SAP SuccessFactors Succession.

Note
For this course, you’ll need to have access to a training Provisioning and instance login. There are two different ways to access Provisioning and instances, depending on whether you are doing self-paced learning or you are attending a Virtual Instructor-led course.

    You can reserve a live, pre-configured SAP SuccessFactors instance through SAP Learning System Access to practice the exercises in this training at your own pace.

    If you have reserved an SAP SuccessFactors instance, you will receive an email on the date your instance is activated.

    Check your respective Learning Room for additional information on instance activation.

Steps

  1. Download the Course Files from SAP Learning Hub.

    1. Log in to the SAP Learning Hub.

    2. Locate the SAP SuccessFactors Career Development Planning and Mentoring content under My Active Courses and click to open it. You may find the option Start Course or Continue Course if you already opened the content.

    3. Click on Course Files link. A pop-up window will open and the THR95_Course_Files.zip will download into your local folder.

  2. Extract the Course Files in your local folder.

  3. Locate the file you just downloaded and extract it into the folder of your choice using a ZIP extractor.

  4. Review the content.

    XML TemplatesIn some of the exercises, you will be asked to add new templates for a Development Plan, a Career Worksheet, a Learning Activity, and a Role Readiness Form.
    Document Type Definition (DTD) filesThere are two DTD files needed to validate your XML templates with your XML Editor. Use the objective-template_4_0.dtd to validate your Development Plan template, and the sf-form.dtd to validate your Role Readiness Form template.
    User Data File.csv (UDF)This is an import file which includes new employees and will be used in this training.
    THR95 Initial RBP Settings.xlsxThis workbook contains all Role-Based Permission configurations necessary for this training.
