  • Add a V12 Development Plan Template from the SuccessStore

Steps to Add a V12 Development Plan Template

A Development Plan Template needs to be uploaded to a unique instance. Uniqueness is determined by the template ID, which can be seen in the XML. You can check Provisioning to verify if other Development Plan Templates are already in the instance.

Assuming you have Provisioning access and Admin Center access to upload Development Plan Templates, there are two ways you can add these templates:

  1. Add a new template in Admin Center from the SuccessStore by navigating to Manage Templates.
  2. Upload the XML template in Provisioning.

To learn how to add new Development Plan Templates to your instance, watch this video:

Note

Although adding a Development Plan via Manage Templates in Admin Center is possible, the SuccessStore that contains a library of templates may generate an error. In these situations, the only solution is to add templates via Provisioning so we will focus on using that method.

Configure the Development Plan Template

Configure the Initial Development Plan Template

Steps

  1. In Provisioning select your Development Goal Plan template.

    1. Navigate to ProvisioningManaging Plan Template, select Import/Update/Export Development Plan Templates.

    2. You’ll see a list of templates numbered 2001-2010. Select one of the templates that does NOT have a name next to the template name. An available template would appear as THR95 Development Plan Student 01. Once a template has been chosen the name would appear as THR95 Development Plan C Adams.

    3. Export the template you selected by clicking the red arrow to the right and note the ID of the template.

    4. Open the template file in an XML editor of your choice.

  2. Edit the template name and append it to your name.

    1. Change the <obj-plan-name> line and add your first initial and last name to the end of the name of the template. If your name is Jane Smith the <obj-plan-name> would read: THR95 Development Plan J Smith.

  3. Save these changes in a new version and upload the template.

    1. Save these changes to a new version of the file and title it THR95 Development Plan v01.xml. This will allow you to make incremental changes and revert to older versions, if needed, when troubleshooting.

    2. Navigate to ProvisioningManaging Plan Template, select Import/Update/Export Development Plan Templates.

    3. Click the Choose File button and select the Development Plan you just created. In the Description of changes field enter Upload of THR95 Development Plan XX (replace XX with your name), then select Upload. You should see a green message that states Development Plan Template was updated successfully.

  4. Make sure the template ID you just selected (for example ID 2004) is NOT the default template.

    1. Verify that the template you uploaded (the ID you chose) is NOT the default template. Template ID 2999 should be the default template. If 2999 is not the default template, in the default column select the default radio button, and then click Save Changes. You may need to save changes first, then change the default option and save changes again.

  5. Make sure that any other existing Development Plan Templates that have NOT been renamed are deactivated. Only the template ID you just renamed with your initials (for example ID 2004), any other templates with initials, and the default ID 2999 should be active.

    1. To deactivate a template, uncheck it under the Active column, and then select Save Changes.

    Note
We are only confirming the obj-plan-id because uniqueness of development plans is determined by the ID, not by the name of the plan. Therefore, uploading a plan with the same ID of an existing plan in the system will overwrite the existing plan.
