The Modeling Convention

Modeling conventions is a feature that enables users to check if diagrams adhere to BPMN language, naming, process structure, architecture, and diagram layout. This step can be done in the menu bar or with the Save button. You can also run these reports for your records.

Five Categories of Modeling Guidelines

Often in organizations, there are many people involved in designing BPMN processes. It's important to ensure quality and its consistency. Modeling conventions can help ensure the quality, consistency, and compliance of these processes. 

These conventions are divided into the following five groups.

Now that we know a bit about modeling conventions, let's look a little deeper into creating custom modeling conventions to fit your specific needs. With an Enterprise License, custom rules can be created and defined to complement existing modeling conventions.
