  • Configure the sender RFC scenario in SAP Process Integration

Purpose of the Sender RFC Adapter

To convert the call to the SAP Process Integration (PI) Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP) format, the sender Remote Function Call (RFC) adapter requires the metadata for the RFC interface (for example, the data type) because it is not included in the call.

The RFC sender communication channel contains the configuration of the information about how to reach the adapter and the logon data for accessing the metadata of the RFC interface.

The RFC adapter is located on the Java Enterprise Edition (JEE) Engine. During runtime, the RFC adapter registers with the SAP Gateway.

Gateway Registration

The figure illustrates the position of the gateway registration between a sender system and the integration directory.

Detailed information about gateway registration with the SAP back-end system can be found under RFC server parameters.

Hint
You can configure several connections to the gateway with multiple registrations and, thus, facilitate load distribution.
